fricking ESPN is the one making this a big deal, making this a story. Straight folk do not give a frick about his sexuality. ESPN is the ine stirring this. fricking sick of that network.

I am trying to make this point before someone overreacts and kills this thread.

I have NEVER criticized Sam for being gay.

I do not care. There have been gay players in the NFL before and he will be another one.

I am completely for gay people being able to work anywhere they choose and I see no problem with him being in the NFL. Anyone who opposes it is ridiculous.

My point is that Sam DOES want to make a spectacle of himself and he DOES want there to be a circus about him being gay. He said that he didn't. He clearly does.

He is lying and obviously has been lying.

THAT is the point of this thread.

The guy is a circus.

fwiw, I completely understand your point and I agree with it.

Yeah, you're not caring all over the place.

that celebration was simply that...a celebration to read into that he wants to make a spectacle of himself tells us more about you than him.

Do the players who actually go to New York and go on stage want to make spectacles of themselves and care less about just playing football or are they simply trying to enjoy this once in a lifetime moment?

They're coming, especially if they play the Pacers again

To the OP I think you should direct your hate towards ESPN not Michael Sam

What an over-the-top reaction for a 3rd round pick. And they're getting divorced now too. I'll pray for Russell Wilson's soul so he doesn't burn in the eternal pits of hell.

Do players who go to New York smear cake all over their girlfriend's faces and kiss it off on national television?

If they did, we would say they were stupid.

The armchair psychologists in this thread are missing the point completely and you are outthinking yourselves.

Show me where I have reacted to Michael Sam before or where I have expressed concern? I haven't. I saw him on TV all day and figured that that was probably his boyfriend with him. I didn't care.

My point is that Sam is doing the opposite of what he said he was doing.

That was not spontaneous emotion. For being a 6th round pick? He made the focus on him being gay, not on him as a football player.

He is playing to the story.

Hey, a-hole, let all of the points being made fly right over your head.

He's gay. I get it. Don't care. It is 2014.

Stunt pulled: Call him an attention seeking a-hole.

We good?

Am I homophobic for calling his stunt unnecessary, unprofessional and self-serving?

Roger, you aren't the brightest, I know, so I will break it down for you with simple reading comprehension tips:

I don't care that he is gay.

I do care that he has been all over the news for the past 3 months telling us that he just wants to be a football player and then he does that.

So the cake is what really put it over the top?

Had there been no cake, you would have been completely cool with it?
