2018

Inexcusable that Payton was trying to throw the ball in that situation. Cost us a shot at the GOAT. Ego got in the way of a championship by outthinking it. Got lucky there was not a face mask call against us and still couldn’t call a game winning/game management drive.

2011 was worse, because I was still a huge fan. While it was nice to see the Saints' run this year, I became detached from the NFL because for years now they've effed up games. Between sneezing on a QB drawing a flag, what is / isn't a catch (before yesterday, I would have put the Dez Bryant debacle as the worst officiating eff up in playoff history) and the fact that the NFL made itself more geared towards stats for fantasy football geeks than for actual competition, I just find myself watching highlights more than actual games. Having said all of that, regarding yesterday's game...as bad as the no call on TLL was, the Saints still had a 3 point lead in the final moments and got the ball first in OT. In neither case were they able to do what they needed to do to close the deal. Now, regarding this bit of ignorance...

I already said both teams got jobbed

Fair point. Ample evidence shows that missed calls affected both teams.

but Saints benefitted more

So by your "logic"..the team that was victimized by the most egregious missed call of the day (which, if called correctly, would have given them the opportunity to essentially run the clock down to the final seconds before attempting a potential game winning FG) BENEFITTED MORE?

Damn son, who does your fact checking? CNN?

Once again, you show yourself to be a delightful comic nugget. Never change.

Cue the "stalker" and Brady Bunch references.

So why not complain about the 2 calls that cost the Rams multiple touchdowns ?

I'm so sick of hearing this as a counter argument. Theres a huge difference between the missed calls. The missed PI directly gave Lewis ZERO shot to make a play. The missed calls vs the Saints did not effect the Rams players from making a play. Yes, it would've given them fresh set of downs, but at least they had opportunity to make a play still when the penalty was missed..

The missed calls were bad all around, but the missed PI gave Lewis 0% chance of making anything happen there because he was hit so early.

Yes, Payton should have run the ball and forced the timeouts, but hindsight is 20/20, right?

That wasn’t even hindsight, foresight said to do it, it was a no brainer

2018. The 2011 team was flat out beat by the team the were playing.

2018 team was (very arguably) beat by the refs.

1.) No call vs. Rams
2.) Minnesota Miracle
3.) collapse vs. 49ers

in terms of "hurt", that's how i rank them... 2011, at least we got beat.... in Minnesota, a fluke of a play beat us... this year, it was taken out of our hands by the officials... THAT is why this one is the worst...

Saints went 13-3 but the Packers were 15-1 and the 49ers were 14-2. They were definitely better than the 09 title team.
