IMO a much better version of that same story as it really tells the story in full

ODing in a dorm room is not the same as dying on the field of play.

Hank Gathers died on the court, not Bias.

Tiger Stadium against Bama.

Abram Booty getting his hair mussed. It was just awful.

Curtis Williams for the Washington Huskies broke his neck against Stanford. He was then paralyzed and later died due to complications from the injury.

I have never even heard of Ruffian until now but that is very sad. From wiki.- I just read about her.

Yep. Bad DNA in her case. Her father, mother, and brother all had to be put down because of leg injuries.

I wouldn't call that DNA... I would attribute it more to the fact that horses aren't built skeletaly to be pumped full of equipoise, jacked up out of their minds, and ran at speeds their bodies obviously can't handle

This to me also. What a sad but great moment in sports. Love it.

this.

David Boston thinks it's excessive.

Anytime a player is paralyzed on the field of play. Just the scariest, most tragic thing you can see on a field outside of a death, which I think all of us hope never happens.
