Not in the next 10 years at least… in reality the transfer rule is the only things that muddies the water… if players had to sit this thing self corrects itself

Attending college will soon be gone, more than it is now. Before long, just being registered is all that will be required.
Will be such a shame. I would imagine most college athletes do take advantage of the free education. Once any requirement to actually pursue that goes away, I bet you see that drop tremendously. It’s brutal to do both. And I think the young people will almost always prioritize being awesome at the sport. They’ll have to. Or someone better who doesn’t care about school will come along and take their spot.
Will absolutely destroy probably the best part about this. The education. 99% of ncaa athletes need it once their 4 years are up.

Maybe but you’d have to start changing the rules. With zero oversight for NIL
If the schools stayed out of it… a private business or collective (not affiliated with school) could easily put parameters in contracts…the liaison between the football program and boosters would probably assume a NFL GM model…

I agree that’s a big problem but what I meant was for the fan base footing the bill. As it stands now you’d just be giving money without any way to confirm what’s happened to it. I don’t think enough people would do that to float the programs that would be left behind if it were to split.

That would help but there are what 125 football teams in D1, 350 in basketball? Do you think enough fans would do this to carry 65 football teams and possibly 200 basketball teams? Remember we’ve gotta keep up with the big boys who are getting real money, I just don’t see that as possible.

I mean you could argue this what’s currently going on… fan base only know so much anyway

You’re right, it is already what’s happening.

Fans been basically carrying them the last 100 years… I don’t agree with the premise everyone’s trying to compete with the big boys

Fans have been donating for buildings, facilities etc. they haven’t been helping to pay the 2 million for a guy who might take off next month. Right now these fan donations are mostly happening at big schools to supplement major donors. For example LSU raised just over 20mil in NIL last season which includes small fan donations. Mcneese raised between 2-3 Mil. I just don’t think there are enough donors for the have nots to keep up with the big boys.

Has this not always been the status quo

The players weren’t always payed. Since NIL started all the better players are funneling to the big schools a lot more than before. This train has already left, donating more at smaller schools can only slow it some maybe.

This goes back to the transfer rule, no???… would a player be willing to sit out a year., especially a junior who would be eligible for the NFL who draft stock would naturally drop having no tape on film( unless you Jamar Chase)… could the best school just hoard talent of course but that’s always been college football

Right, that’s why I said earlier they’d need to changed rules for it to even be feasible but again I think it’s all intentional.

What if they just go JUCO? Now that there’s no eligibility lost, a questionable player might be sent to JUCO instead of a smaller school to get it together then move onto the big schools. Didn’t some 28 year old just get granted at 7th year? You know they’re trying to get rid of eligibility all together right?

This board is quite interesting though. More government bad unless more government good. Capitalism good unless capitalism bad.
You liberals are so freaking WEIRD!! Why TF do you think capitalism is suppose to be a complete free for all? Google “monopoly laws” as a start, or any of the other thousands of laws that guide capitalism. It is the greatest form of economy in the history of the world. Liberals think it’s bad because you’re brainwashed simpletons.

You're a proponent for government intervention and regulation to mandate limitations on earning potentials, while also crying about some schools will fail and need a government bailout - need national government regulation to save them.

This is absolutely correct. Just like his HUNH arguments rules for thee but not for me. Shane Gillis called him out on gameday about this and he got all butt hurt about it.
