He has a legitimate chance to go down as the Greatest Coach of All Time.
Like his daddy said, he was born on third base.

Ryan Day's "daddy" committed suicide when he was 9 years old, a lot of you guys would probably take it easier on him if you actually knew what he's been through in his life.
Its kind of ironic how the whole "born on 3rd base" thing came from a massive nepo baby whose father gave him every advantage in life while Ryan grew up without a father.

His daddy is Jim Harbaugh. His dad died when he was 9.
Harbaugh built San Diego, built Stanford, built Michigan and is a head coach in the NFL.
Ryan Day inherited a juggernaut from Urban and benefits from the NIL era more than any other coach in America.
They are not the same. Ryan Day can't even outsmart Lou Holtz.
ETA: Chip Kelly was the reason they won in 2025, not Ryan Day.

Ryan Day is a great coach.
Ryan Day probably would've been fired last year if not for the expanded playoffs.
Both things can be true.

It wasn't OSU admittedly, but Smart also went 8-5 his first year and he was on a longer leash. Day hasn't won less than 11 games (outside the Covid year when they won every game until playing Bama).
Day took over the same team he was on and continued the system in place. Kirby was coming from a different program and having to change the system.
I didn’t say Kirby was perfect, but he got to an NC game and nearly won it in year 2
I don’t even like Kirby, but he’s a better coach than Day.

didn’t get gifted to him like Day got in the 2020 season only playing 6 games and losing 1 then having the league change the rules to hook them up last minute.
You might want to have your facts straight before you go off on a diatribe like this.

I just want to play OSU again so we can beat that arse again. When Les Miles scores 31 straight points on you ...you are a overrated program with a weak schedule that only has to get lucky once or twice to be decent. Fact.

You actually have to win regular season games and make the playoffs more than once to have that opportunity. Facts.

I would love to see Ohio State and LSU play in regular season. It would be fun to watch.

Not so much fun on Tiger Rant...not now. Ohio State would push LSU around, after watching Ole Miss do it (they had a 15 yard tush-push against LSU's D-line...once a hallmark, now a shell). It would be a boring 27-10 game where you feel one team isn't really in it. LSU has no identity right now and Kelly is already losing it before midseason.

Well good thing he won a natty or that distinction would be hollow AF

Day's only HC gig was at a powerhouse. He's never had to rebuild a program, which accounts for a number of losses for Saban and many others.
I don't dislike Day and he is a very good coach, but just wanted to mention his overall record is inflated somewhat.

That was a top 15 program when Smart got there. Tons of talent already on the roster as well and a great recruiting footprint.
Still took work to become the juggernaut they became…

The only loss OSU had was to Bama who beat the crap out of everyone in 2020.
Holy crap you SEC fans can't even keep simple facts straight. You are so desperate to make terrible troll attempts that you don't care if what you are saying is even close to true.

Yes Day completely outcoached him in the 2022 Peach Bowl without tons of his offensive weapons and then won the most recent national title, and has his team #1 while UGA just lost AT HOME to Bama
