which is a shame because when svp was on it was the best sports talk radio show you could listen to. kannell, while no svp, made that show fantastic during football season.
SVP and Russillo was the best thing ESPN had going for them.

It was simply b/c they targeted an audience that ESPN should love to have in their corner. Males from 20-50, especially males from 25-35, you know, guys with money.
But they would rather target anything but white males who just finished college.

The Kanell and Sara Walsh layoffs must've really hit him. Now they put him with Will Cain. He must be really going through it

I like Russillo, but taking your grievance to twitter seems petty

Every person I know that was an SVP & Russillo fan, now religiously listens to Pardon My take.

if you're not jemele hill on sc6 then you're a nobody at espn

frick, please guys let's not turn it into one of those "I hate ESPN" threads. I think we should focus on Ryen and what happened to his show and what he'll do next. We've had enough of those

My guess would be, they assume whites are the ones cutting cords, so there is nothing they can do to save them. But young blacks are likely still on basic cable, so that is the audience they are trying not to lose

It is probably true too but that is a very Un-ESPN take.
That's why I always liked him, he didn't seem to spout off bullshite like most of ESPN.

I think Ryen feels pissed because some of the people he was close to got canned. That's understandable for anyone. But to go on twitter and make an announcement is kind of petty.
I also think some of you think of Ryen a bit too highly as far as the "he should just leave" comments go. He's not on the same level of Dan Patrick or Rich Eisen.

I don't think he'd be out of work long, if he left.

Sounds like if he left he might not even try to get back into the sports talk radio game. He wants to develop a TV show.
Hopefully he'll do a podcast or something if he leaves for the west coast

quote:Why exactly must it be one or the other? I don't think ESPN said "You know what. Screw the heterosexual white male from the south". They introduced SC6 and immediately I knew this board would be hell bent on disliking it for the fact that who is on the TV screen.

With that being said, I notice the stupid things that espn does from time to time. Hell, I follow another board that specifically makes fun of the countless stupid things that ESPN tries to pull out as "sports facts" ( stupid shite you see on ESPN).
quote:I don't think cable cutting is a black or white issue. It's more of a generational change. The fact is that older people are still tied to receiving their news/information on the 5 or 6 clock news. While people in our age bracket don't need 24/7 sports and or news cycles.
