The biggest sport the Russians would have an advantage in IMO is hockey. The NHL will not allow its player to participate in this year's games, but I believe KHL players would be able to which would give them a huge advantage since Canadian/US teams would be made up of minor leaguers, college kids and old vets.

Russia would be the favorites, but Finland and Sweden would still be tough competition. Switzerland and the Czechs would be a tier below yet decent as well.

If you have seen Icarus on netflix the fact the IOC did not ban them for the 2016 Summer Olympics is BS. Glad they grew some balls and decided to take some action against these corrupt russian bastards

A lot of these athletes compete in individual competitions.
I know what you mean but all participants are representing their country. It might not be a team event per se, but they are still representing their country. There's never been a medal count of USA 124, China 86, and Joe Blow 2. It sucks for the athlete but if his country has been banned then he shouldn't be able to participate imo.

I think the special dispensation is to protect the winners, not the Russian athletes. The powers that be have said that they want all clean athletes to participate so that the winner will not be cheated as having not faced the best.
That's sounds like bs to me. What if the #1 rated downhill skier gets hurt before the Olympics? The other participants will still try to win the event but everyone knows it would have been tougher if the #1 was able to go. I just think it's flawed to have athletes participating in events and they're not eligible to win said event.

Man, the PT board has really rubbed off on you. I remember when you used to be a decent poster.

Your example actually reinforces the point rather than refutes it. It is desirable to have the best compete.

Athletes compete as independents at every Olympics.

Yup, ReauxlTide,
I can see it now. President Trump will successfully negotiate to have Russia reinstated to the Winter Olympics and the petulant, crybaby liberal dickweeds will go bat sh*t crazy!
