I know it’s impressive but he can’t deny chasing stats or getting free rebounds. Come on.

OKC is #3 in Total Rebounding %/rate

Whether or not Russ is "padding" stats, he isn't hurting their rebounding production

As people have said, if it was so easy to get all these"free" rebounds more people would get them + opponents would contest them

And definitely wish he would start coming off high screens past the 3 point line and do this weird flopping move where he just throws the ball straight up looking for cheap 3 free throw fouls...

Frankly, this would help the team, since he is literally the worst 3-point shooter in the league.

Ben Simmons, a rookie, KNOWS he can't shoot threes, and doesn't even try. Russ hasn't figured it out yet.

Punting the offensive rebound is a league wide trend. Uncontested rebounds are at an all time high. It has never been easier to get a defensive rebound. Only 15% of his d rebounds are contested. So lets not make him out to be this guy consistently soaring over other players for rebounds. The defense is getting back and Westbrook grabs the ball that his teammates would’ve grabbed if Russ didn’t jump in front of him. even if we take away all of Westbrook’s triple doubles we are still at record high league wide. Not hating just digging a little deeper to show some context. Congrats to Russell. He plays hard.

Other teams have big men who want their rebounds. Westbrook has Steve O Adams who is content with blocking out and letting Westbrook get the rebound. League wide o Reb rate is under 25% for the first time in league history all of the last three years.

quote:

The game has moved beyond the standard box score measure of rebounds. Yes, Adams is tied for 14th in the NBA in rebounds per game (9.1), but it's rebound rate that tells you more. What percentage of a team's rebounds is a player securing? What percentage of total rebounds is a team securing with a specific player in the game? It should come as no surprise that Adams is No. 1 in offensive rebounding percentage (17.3), but his defensive rebounding percentage of 17.7 ranks him 140th out of 270 qualified players.

He’s really been playing out of his cotton-picking mind lately.

this is subjective of course and depends on the source , but nba.com has him at 21.5% which is above average among guards. So that argument here doesn't fly.
Harden, for example, is at 17% on nba.com

We are not comparing him to other guards. We are comparing his triple doubles v triple doubles in other years where teams attempted to offensive rebound. Historically this is the easiest time in nba history for any player to get a triple double. Due to numerous factors. And players are actively Chasing them
Now Making them lose their value. Which wasn’t much to begin with.

Yea he will do it next year too. And his team won’t win 50 games. And he will lose out in rd 1 of the playoffs.

Ben Simmons could average a triple double for his whole career if it is something he wants to do.

I hate Colin Cowherd but his rant about the MVP chase this year was spectacular, regarding the preference of the NBA media for a new narrative over actual accomplishment.

If he really wanted to, he could. Lebron paces himself during the reg season.

Westbrook goes so frantically hard for his rebounds to get his triple double that we get this when the game is on the line.

He might be able to for a season, but not his whole career. That is just ignorant.

You are truly pathetic..... if Harden has done this you would never shut up about him bring the GOAT.... trying to diminish this on any way shows just how stupid you are.....

Agreed. Last year was the first year in a long time that the award did not go a player who lead his team to outstanding team success. This year it is back to being how it was before. The shine has come off the triple double narrative. Rightfully so.

He's an overrated ball hog. It's no coincidence that Harden, Durant, Oladipo and Sebonis all got better after leaving the Thunder.

Yep. Can’t even win 50 in the reg season. Can’t even win a playoff series without Durant. please please let them get by Utah so CC and then can either sweep or 5 gamer him again.
