Is it more common today with the instant gratification crowd? Feels it happens more often now against teams that you really shouldn't rush the field against. Winning against #1 team or a rival that has dominated you use to be the norm, now any top 10 or top 15 win people wanting to storm the field.

FSU rushing after being double digit favorites against 6-5 Florida was even worse

It’s gone in cycles. Yankee fans ran on the field when Chris Chambliss hit a walk off to get them to the World Series in the late 70s (77 maybe?) there was an incident in college where someone was hit by the falling goal posts and iirc corrected died, so it stopped for a while but does seem more common lately

The standard of only doing it for big wins is the “ok boomer” mentality. They are kids and doing it because it’s fun

I don't really have a preference but it's easily predictable that many of the same people saying stuff like this will be the first to ask why didn't they stop them from rushing the field when someone gets injured doing so

This and kids that were kept from doing anything for a couple of years due to covid restrictions.

Clemson has always allowed their fans and alumni on the field to join the team in singing the alma mater at the conclusion of a game. They used to slowly make their way down (unless it was a huge game or game winning stop). I’ve noticed after covid they rush for every game with a phone in hand.

They did the same thing in 2010 when we also had 5 losses.

People used to go on the field after almost every game
Go watch games in college and pros from the 70s and 80s.
It became a problem in the 90s when people were dropping goalposts on people’s heads.
We don’t have a rushing the field problem we have a no fun policy problem

I’m a boomer and I think it’s fine. It’s mostly kids thinking it’s fun to run into the field.
If you are embarrassed or think it’s absurd you need to get a freakin life. Or turn the TV off.
What a bunch of pussies.

I've never seen USC fans rush the field.

Seen Oregon fans rush the field but its not a big WC thing...like down South where its seemingly happening after every close game.

You haven’t seen a lot of football if you think that.

I went to a game in the Colosseum once. Maybe 200 students when the band took the field for pregame
