Any of you guys watching? It looks like its going to be really good. First this special on UNLV, and tomorrow the 30 for 30 on the Fab 5.
I remember as a kid watching those UNLV teams and they were SOOOO loaded and athletic. They used to throw it off the backboard for dunks and just seemed to intimidate opposing teams every game.
I used to wonder how the old bald white guy who bites towels is able to control his players.

My dad played college ball out west in the early 1970's and said even then Tark the Shark had a reputation of being a dirty coach.
The 1990-1991 UNLV team was so loaded with talent it was SICK. Stacey Augman, Larry Johnson, Greg Anthony, and Elmore Spencer were all selected in the first round of the NBA draft, and George Ackles was the 2nd pick in the 2nd round. Five players drafted in the top 29 picks.
They also had 1990 Final Four MOP Anderson Hunt who played pro over seas.

It had to have been awesome to have been a member of the UNLV basketball teams in the early 90's living in VEGAS.

appropriate that this is coming on right before the fab 5 thing tmrw, because a lotta the stuff the fab 5 is claiming to have brought to the masses had literally just been done by UNLV.

Tark was a very intriguing personality for sure.

Tark was always dirty recruiter, long before UNLV days. But, he and his wife love their players, and did whatever it took to help them along. Love him, have autographed pic of him in my sports room.
Until the Richard Fixer Perry pics with his ballers in the hot tub went public..and Maxson pulled the plug..
UNLV was set to continue their dynasty and run under Tark, whom at the time it came crashing down, had verbals from Ed O'Bannon and Glen Big Dog Robinson, amongst others, on their way to the desert..
The party had no end in sight!

I enjoyed the DOC, but I wish they would have shown more on the 1989-1991 teams. Those guys had so much talent it was unreal.
I have to admit, as a young kid I was pulling for Duke instead of UNLV. However today with me being older and a grown man, I appreciate the UNLV team a lot more and if the two teams were to play today Id be a diehard UNLV fan.
Looking forward to the Fab 5 documentary tonight.

Tark could have had a dynasty at UNLV. I really dont see much difference between him and John Calipari, except Tark stayed at UNLV while Cal moves from school to school when trouble arises.

assuming you're talking hoops, they may be a better team, but not by much IMO.

I thought they did just enough on them. it was good to see some of the stuff from Tark's early years thru the 80s to kinda understand the foundation of the program.
