Right and when its all said and done the Redskins look to be 43-45 mil below the cap. The Jets won't have the space to afford him.

This also makes a lot more sense than Houston

Because the Redskins, unlike Houston need a QB.

And will have money to spend.

But come on, TJ Yates wins games, man! He's won more playoff games than Matt Schaub has!

Yates did surprisingly well considering he hadn't suited up till Schaub got hurt and had a limited off-season to even work with the offense. That being said, if Schaub is healthy he is the QB for the Texans, as he should be.

Without Foster it won't matter who plays QB, he is the key to the offense.

2010 - 2200 total yards 18 Td's
2011 - 1800 total yards 12 Td's while missing 3 games due to injury

Eta: incase anyone was still thinking about this John Mcclain was on 610 this morning saying the texans have zero interest in Manning

and there's this.

What catches my eye is at the end of the article they discuss how week 16 last year, Manning participated in a team practice

quote:

the practice was conducted from the 25-yard line on in because that was then roughly Manning's ceiling in terms of his arm strength throwing the ball.

yeah, lets just chuck Matt Schaub

Let's pretend that the fourth surgery didn't exist.

In all likelihood, signing Manning means no more Schaub AND no more Mario Williams. Is he worth that?

Williams is gone anyway, they can't afford him.

Schaub is basically the definition of a system quarterback, there are no special qualities there.

Right. There was an article today that said the only chance he's back is if he takes a "hometown discount".

Fat chance of that.

That's speculation on the part of John McClain, but i do think it will be tough to keep him. That said, they don't need a QB and Manning is not worth the risk, they can win with Schaub.

Been saying this from the get go, if he is fit to play, he WILL be a Redskin. They just need to bring Saturday with him and sign a no.1 receiver which Shanahan has said they're targeting. They'll have the fifth most cap space I believe. Bruce Allen has done an amazing job of revamping the roster. They just need to shore up the oline and secondary, grab a stud at Qb and sign a no.1 wr.

I wonder if Peyton wouldn't want to go to the same division as his brother or if that matters anymore. As a Skins fan, his health would be a concern, especially since the every NFC East team is loaded with pass rushers (Ware/Spencer, Tuck/Osi/JPP, Cole/Babin). He won't make it through the year..

Win what? They didn't win anything until Manning got hurt.

Yes they are a good team, but Schaub is a limited player, and they won't be as good as they can be with him at QB. Like I said, he's a system QB, which is why he always struggles in 4th quarters against good teams. A team that can stop the run and force them to pass will give them trouble.

And it doesn't help that Kareem Jackson still starts for them at CB either.

Intresting that you keep calling Schaub a system QB when hes been successful in two different systems and Peyton has only played in one system his entire career, which is completely different than the Texans run

Big difference. Peyton is the system, while the Texans' system is Kubiak. Everything you see Houston do on offense is scripted, which is why they struggle when the script breaks down (the running game gets stopped and they can't do the playaction to AJ or wideopen TE). It's why they can plug in Yates or Rosenfels and still do pretty well, and why Schaub always struggled to beat good teams.

I guess it could be argued that bc Kubiak's system is so good, they don't need a superstar QB. Especially now that Pittsburgh is getting old on defense, and maybe Baltimore as well.

I just know that when you compare Schaub to the QBs that have won SBs over the last decade, he doesn't measure up.
