Big loss for SA, sucks

Watching my first ever rugby game with three guys from New Zealand. I’m hoping all blacks win because I want to see these guys go nuts.

Don’t think you’re gonna get your wish. Brutal red card for NZ.

NZL can absolutely win this.

14 v 14 the rest of the way

Huge yellow card against South Africa's most dangerous player. Chance for the lead with time running down for New Zealand.
And he missed it. Wow. That make could have sealed it.

Damn, big missed kick. Hoping for a good finish, been an eh match overall

TMO (review) controlling the match instead of the actual ref.
Eta: and I'm not sure that South Africa has run an attacking play all match. Very boring offense from the Springboks.

Well damn. Hoped against hope that NZ could do it with 14. All but an impossible task in a Final thought.

Plus the actual ref gave South Africa 3 points with a complete missed call early in the match, which was the difference in the game.
This was my least favorite match to watch so far, because of the refereeing. Too much review, too much nitpicking.

Yep. The most wtf moment was when there was an obvious knock on at the lineout, ref says play on, All Blacks score 3 minutes later... And they go back for the knock on which was also overruled for playing the jumper in the air.
Also... the real difference in the match was from the cards. Refs says play on, TMO says "hold up" let's give out a yellow card for a hard hit that was borderline. And I didn't love the basically automatic red card for NZ either.
You can make anything look like foul play if you slow it down enough.
New Zealand also waited way too long to bring on Mckenzie. Guy is a magician with the ball in hand and is one of the best kickers in the game. He likely makes the game winner that Mo'unga missed.

I was a terrible way to play a World Cup final, with a man down for a borderline call. That shouldn't have been a red.
Wayne Barnes admitted to Savea that he messed up during the match by awarding a penalty to SA. Savea clearly released, but it is what it is.

Back to watching non-RWC matches.
Easiest streaming:
MLR and Gallagher Premiership (English Pro) on The Rugby Network (Free)
Flo Rugby (garbage and pricy, pirate if possible) has French Pro 14 and United Rugby Championship (international pro competition)
Peacock has the European Pro Club Rugby and Heineken Cup, and 6 Nations once that starts back up next year.
One of the worst things about rugby in the US is that it's either expensive or a pain in the arse to try to watch. And it seems like rights and contracts change from year to year.
Unfortunately it looks like ESPN+ has pretty much exited the professional rugby market.

Can you explain the yellow on 11 for South Africa? I don't know the rules. Thanks.

The complaint of replay in football.
You can make any ball (be moving in a receivers body/hands as he's a body in motion) and therefore (not have "complete control") for a catch...if you slow it down enough.
Glad replay is a scourge across the globe, especially fouls like targeting in football, akin to your example.

Intentionally hitting the ball forward (intentional knock on) is a penalty. If it's obvious enough, it can be upgraded to a yellow.
It's often a borderline call between a defender doing it on purpose or accidentally. The ref makes a judgement on if the defensive player is in position to realistically catch the ball. And often, especially when the offense has the defense outnumbered, it can be upgraded to a yellow.

It’s absolutely rough, but I’ve only ever been interested in the international test so between Peacock having Six Nations and the World Cup, it has most everything I want.
Really wish the sport would pickup and grow here, an elite rugby match is incredible.

Thank you. At first I thought what the hell? Then he acted like he knew he screwed up.
