i don't have any want one way or the other as far as him being gay. but i've said for a week or so now that if he is i hope the gay community comes out bashing him for this charade and doesn't champion him in some way.

Fa'afafine may be viewed as a third gender specific to Samoan culture. Fa'afafine are the gender liminal, or third-gendered people of Samoa. Their gendered behavior typically ranges from extravagantly feminine to mundanely masculine.[1]
Maybe that's Ronaiah?

This. I know he may not be the brightest bulb in the bunch, but I refuse to believe he is this stupid. I actually feel really bad for him. He is really mixed up because of his sexual orientation and it's acceptability (or lack thereof) in football.
Not just in football. In the Pacific Islander community, in the Mormon church, and at ND in general.

Because that, to me, seems so much more of a stretch than it being a gay cover. Good looking popular football player falls in love with someone on-line, lies to people about meeting her, but really doesn't, makes no effort to actually meet with her (I would have climbed through a brick wall at that age to get laid my hormones were so strong), then makes no effort to see her on her deathbed when she is taking her last breaths.
This, I can see some reason behind. That's a good argument for him being gay.
I don't think he is, and I hope he's not. I'd just feel terrible about that.
Then again, it could be a good thing for homosexual athletes, such a twisted story. It could make future homosexual athletes bolder with truth.
We'll see what happens. I won't be shocked if he's gay. I just hope he's not. I would hope that he'd drop the cover up.

He's smart enough to know his dad would see a red flag but he never questioned it? This guy is so full of shite.

I hope he's not either now that he's told KC he's not.

See, and I think the story is already profoundly sad. Te'o is either a scared, confused gay man who is terrified of coming out to his family and community which is notoriously homophobic OR he is mentally ill.
Neither result is a real knee slapper. Though I do admit this story is fascinating.

If he's gay his nfl colleagues will notice he doesn't have any lady friends. He's already suspect

I'll say this to the "Manti is gay" camp...what really hurts the "Manti was duped" argument is how he's handled it since it broke.
The no camera interview with Schapp? Only going on Katie Couric?
Putting myself in his shoes, I'd just admit to being trolled, wonder publicly how I could be so stupid, but I'd talk to any media outlet that wanted to hear my side of the story. Big press conference, the works. I wouldn't be so selective and secretive about it.
That's just me. I can't ever relate to this. But I don't like that he's picking and choosing media. Makes it seem like he's hiding something.

That's what I'm saying
Schapp interview was super sketchy, especially on a Friday night. That screams PR move.
Then interview with Couric, who happens to have the same publicist that Te'o hired with CAA

All these things that you posted about his being Mormon and hiding stuff from his family are all reasons WHY it's easier to believe the gay angle.
Talk to some gay friends who were in the closet with their family for a long time.

I'm so pissed he said he lied to his dad about meeting her because it would raise a red flag with him
No follow up
Hey manti obviously you're smart enough to see why this would raise doubts and suspicions yet you were duped?

Haha.
I'm a Mormon. I can tell you for a fact if Teo came out as gay before the next Sunday the church will have excommunicated him and he'd not be welcome.
If his faith is really strong he'd be damn smart to keep it hidden for that reason alone. The church is very intolerant of gays, lesbians, or people who are bi sadly.
Also no telling how his family would react but my bet is they'd disown him. Most Mormon families have a similar view of homosexuality and sever all communication with there kids if any of them were gay.

Ronaiah was still trying to get Diane O'Meara (the face of "Lennay") to do stuff into the first week of January...She/he wanted O'Meara to do something related to the title game - per O'Meara to AC360 last night
Te'o said Ronaiah admitted it was a hoax and his/her name was Leah. Then when Te'o got upset, he/she went back to saying she was Lennay.
Then Ronaiah as Lennay claimed that he/she and her family were in Miami and Ronaiah as the sister tweeted pics of the lobby to prove she was there but got the pics from a ND fan.
quote:LINK
But a source who is a Notre Dame fan from Southern California says she actually took the pictures that were sent to Te'o and that the people pretending to be the Kekuas were most likely not in Miami. The source said she had just arrived at the Miami airport when she got a message from "U'ilani Rae Kekua" -- the fake sister of Lennay Kekua -- asking for photos. It didn't strike her as odd initially, but started to puzzle her when U'ilani -- who the source is confident was still in California -- kept bugging her for photos at the airport, the lobby of the players' hotel, the fountain outside and even the elevators.
"I looked at my friend and said, 'Something's up,' " said the source, who does not want to be identified for fear of retribution. She knew whomever was U'ilani Kekua through Twitter, photos and a few phone calls and texts, but the two had never met in person.
Then Ronaiah calls Te'o in his hotel room pretending to be U'ilani Rae Kekua and saying she was in the lobby waiting for Lennay and if Lennay is up there with him, tell her to come down because we're waiting on her.
Sounds fricked up but the ND fan confirming the pics backs this story up.
So Ronaiah was still catfishing him at that point.

Derp. Then he's obviously not as devout as he says if he is in fact gay
Also, there were several reports from players/students around Notre Dame who said he put on a front about a lot of things and loved the attention. Deep down inside he probably isn't as religious as he is portraying himself as
