They fired Rush for the same thing, so I feel like if they kept Parker they're just inviting a lawsuit

i don't understand how Stephan A Smith can say "n***a please" and not get as much as a suspension while Rob Parker makes a few comments and gets fired

i get that one could be perceived as worse, but it's a bit extreme.

he is awful, though. but he will get a job elsewhere.
he isn't getting canned for the comment. He's getting canned for blaming the situation on espn.

if it was that big of a deal, it should have never been approved. the person who approved it should be the one taking the heat, not the lackey parker

ESPN can do a little bit to make it right... discipline or fire the producer, too.

Still doesn't mean that Rob Parker should get a new contract.

He said that they ran through the bit with producers and he was given the go-ahead.

When keeping it real goes wrong..

Damn I wish Dave Chappelle was back to do a Rob Parker skit. Parker making good money, on TV. Show some images of his gf or wife at home with a fro and a black power hair pic in her hair, Malcom X pics on the wall, they have a discussion about blacks dating whites, blacks being republicans, RG3 name comes up. Ol Rob goes on TV and calls RG3 out, wants to keep it real.

I can accurately say I've never seen FirstTake.

I watched it last week for the first time in a few years and damn has that show changed. It started off with some hip hop song that made me lmao because it was so odd. They just talked about the same subjects over and over. I used to like the show when it had other segments along with the debate desk but now It's so awful I can't believe it's still going.

Plus the people "offended" by what Stephen A said aren't actually offended.

That's the problem, IMO. I didn't think Rush should have been fired, and I don't think Parker should have been.

Why?

Because both have reps for saying controversial things, primarily for shock value, and that's why ESPN hired them in the first place. So they fire those guys for doing what they were hired to do.

At best, ESPN are hypocrites.
