Rizzo: "We play too much baseball"

ESPN
While I agree that a shortened season would be better for a few reasons, I think he's coming off like a little bitch in his word choice. Dude is making bank and this article portrays him just complaining about the cold. If he were to go the route of explaining the benefits of a shortened season leading to less injury and players having more time to recover between seasons, that'd be a valid point. He could have even gone the route of explaining how a shortened season would improve fan attendance due to less opportunities to go the games. Half of the league is damn near out of the playoff race by the All Star Break as it is.
Coming from a "has been" player myself, I'd much rather be making millions in freezing rain than sitting here typing my rant in an office cubicle.
ETA: Wonder what this Cubs opinion would be...

I wonder if he would be okay with being paid less then.

Is Rizzo cool with an 8-10 percent decrease in salary? If so, he could get his wish.

As much as I love watching baseball, I agree to an extent.
They get like 1 or 2 off days a month.
If they took 20 games off of the season, I think there were be a size-able decrease in minor injuries like tightness and pulled muscles.
They definitely shouldn't have played that game against the braves the other day.

The season needs to be halved or at least down to 100 games.

Anthony Rizzo OK with taking pay cut for fewer games
He says he would be. I'm just being overly critical with him saying "we play too much baseball". I admit I'm being a hater haha. I doubt he means it negatively.

100 game season is the correct answer.

CHICAGO -- Chicago Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo is advocating for a shorter season, even if that means a smaller paycheck for players.
"I think we play too much baseball," Rizzo said Tuesday during his weekly appearance on ESPN 1000. "Yes, guys are going to take pay cuts. But are we playing this game for the money or do we love this game? I know it's both, but in the long run it will make everything better."
It's in the first line of the article you lazy, no reading, facks

Were you a 'has been' or a 'never was"? Did you play professionally? Serious question, I'm not talking shite. I was a never was, I sat the bench my senior year in high school.

I call bullshite. And if he actually means it, that would be selfish of him. It's easy to say when you're making a crap ton of money. No way the average MLB player would want that to happen. You would also eliminate the need for those quad A players who make a living shuffling back and forth from the minors.

I don't think 20 would be too many and the season could start towards the end of April.

I'd much rather see a 144 game season with more scheduled doubleheaders, maybe one Saturday a month or something
Posted on 4/17/18 at 3:22 pm to CobraCommander83
Yeah I don't think the complaining players are wanting it drastically reduced, but when you look at a monthly schedule, they play every day.
20 games could give a little breathing room.

As in, you no-talent replacement level players are going to take pay cuts.
The superstars aren't going to make less.
Go back to 154 games, start the season a little later, more double headers as well as more mid-week days off, and force cold weather teams like Minnesota, Colorado, Cleveland to start the season on 2-week road trips.

Was a 'has been' for UTSA when they were in the Southland years back. Decent freshman year, but became a bench/role player the following three. Fun times, but riding the bench was a tough pill to take. The college athlete party scene got the best of me

Yes. He clearly said this.
