BTW, Incognito's camp isn't really the brightest. They have sat on these texts all this time and decide to release them during the Super Bowl?

FWIW, I think they were cooperating with the NFL and the NFL released these early to change the narrative and justify the findings of their investigation that are soon to be released. They wanted to wait until after the Super Bowl to do it so it wasn't the story during the playoffs.

i have a feeling part of the issue of lack of dissemination of this information via major broadcast is due to coercion from the NFL

Reading these texts last night was wild. Even with the media reporting all of the information surrounding the situation out of context to paint a negative picture of Incognito, I never felt like even what they said he did was "wrong" enough to make it a big media story. Hell, these texts confirm that there was no story. Incognito did nothing wrong, seemed to genuinely care about Martin's well-being (tried to get him to hang out, offered advice from similar experience, informed of him of workout times, informed of workout plans, etc.). It looked like he was just trying to peer pressure him to include him. I'd go out on a limb and say Incognito was one of the few actual friends Martin had on the team.

Granted, Incognito is a huge bro and I couldn't blame Martin for not wanting to hang out with him...but Incognito never gave him any harder of a time than any of my friends from undergrad did about going out, girls, booze, etc.

Throughout the texts, Martin comes off as timid, obviously young, and I actually thought possibly homosexual.

Unreal how Incognito got worked by the media. The image those clowns portrayed was one of a minority citizen in the country forced to deal with an overt racist/bully to maintain his job, which eventually led to mental hospitalization. Media made you think that Incognito was sending like 10-15 texts at a time that were verbally (textually?) abusive in a racial or bullying manner while Martin never responded.

None of that was true.

Incognito sure does seem like he should be able to sue some damn body. This guy got destroyed in the press for what? Because Martin has a social disorder? The blow back on Martin is not going to be anywhere close to what the fervor was against Incognito when this thing broke. and it is situation where everyone owes this guy an apology IMO.

Deadspin is getting almost as bad as ESPN

they have a vested interest in the anti-bullying/gay agenda, though (i believe the owner or one of the main editors is a big time open homosexual), so i can imagine their own internal politics do not want to support incognito

also they don't want to link to their main competition (SB Nation)

yeah but incognito has a future in the NFL. he's not as dumb as martin, who basically eliminated any future in the NFL with his bullshite. if incognito goes around suing his team and the NFL/NFLPA, he's not ever going to get another shot

deadspin is rapidly approaching espn levels

I read this Sherman/thug article that was just so shitty, I can never go back.

They were cool when they were waging war on ESPN, now they're just a collection of insufferable SOBs

Actually I was thinking about Martin/his agent for putting this bullshite out there. Or some of the media outlets that ran with it without knowing the facts. Suing anything NFL would be career suicide and I agree with you there.

Wow

Funny guys. Sound like my friends but with millions of dollars.

Incognito should be 100% vindicated and paid by Martin for all the money he lost from contracts from this.

Reads to me like Incognito was someone that really cared about Martin and went out of his way to include him. I wonder Martin even feels bad for throwing a friend completely under the bus like that? or if he doesn't even give a shite? Either way Martin is now looking like a total mental case.

I read a shitload of those txts. It's a crime what happened to Incognito.

Martin has to have a major mental malfunction for doing that to a teammate. I believed the story the media crammed down our throats....I was so wrong.

+1 I bought it all, and I'm embarrassed about it. Incognito is def. a bro, but he actually seems like a decent guy...

and frick Martin. what a fricking clown for not defending Incognito while this was going down.

Whats sad is that Martin just ended Incognitos only real career option that was suited to him

Martin is not an NFL player, he doesnt need to be either, hes got a degree from Stanford, this whole shitstorm is no sweat off his back because he could do something else and make similar type money and be twice as happy. But instead of just giving up on football he too Incognito, an actual friend, down in flames with him and ruined his NFL career which is one of the rare places that a crazy person like Incognito could actually flourish

So Martin leaves for a high salary job and leaves Incognito blackballed from the job he was made to perform at

I think with the release of these, Incognito will find a job without a problem. He's a meat head but you don't not take a Pro Bowl caliber offensive lineman because he likes to party his face off.
