SIAP, I did a search LINK
quote:
A new report from the New York Daily News details the sexual assault allegations made against Peyton Manning by an athletic trainer on the football staff during his time at Tennessee. The report cites court documents, which it also uses to support its claim that Manning’s family engaged in a smear campaign against the alleged victim, Dr. Jamie Naughright, breaking a confidentially agreement the parties had signed.
The legal filings detail a purported incident from 1996 in which the quarterback exposed himself to Naughright during an examination and proceeded to sexually assault the trainer. Naughright reported the event at the Knoxville Sexual Assault Crisis center that day, according to the Daily News’ Shaun King.

The writer of this article, Shaun King, is a white guy who was pretending to be a black guy and was one of the leaders of the Black Lives Matter movement.
He was accused of accepting funding from regular people for a variety of BLM-related projects, but never following through and keeping the money. He caught a ton of heat from his supporters for that. That, plus him lying about being black, led to the other leaders of the Black Lives Matter movement to kick him out of the group.
One of Shaun King's favorite things to do is to smear white people with pretty solid reputations, like Peyton Manning, because he thinks it makes black people look better if white people are engaging in bad behavior too.
He's a hack.
I have no doubt that he's trying to smear Peyton Manning because he took shine away from Cam Newton. Cam was painted as somewhat of a villain after the Super Bowl, and Peyton has been glorified and is expected to ride out into the sunset. It's Shaun King's way of trying to take some shine away from Peyton Manning by re-visiting a controversy from 20 years ago.
I'm not saying Peyton didn't do what it says he did. I'm just saying this is very old news and Shaun King is rehashing it because he has an agenda.

Perhaps so, and perhaps he has an agenda, but he didn't fabricate the court documents the article is based on.

I know he didn't. But this story is 20 years old and has been brought up time and time again. Why would he be bringing it up again now?

I don't understand how that guy still gets so much traction.

Should've just put up Peyton's stat line from the game.

Actually, I didn't even read the article when I made my first post. But after skimming the article just now, Shaun King pretty much admits exactly what I said. I can read him like a book. He's a race-baiting hack. Here's an excerpt from the article:
There it is right there.
He thinks there is a racial double standard when talking about Peyton Manning and Cam Newton, and he is giddy about showing that white people do bad things too. That's his whole agenda.
quote:
On the morning after Super Bowl 50, I posted a picture on my Facebook page of Cam Newton smiling and embracing Peyton Manning after the game and simply asked why that warm photo wasn't being talked about instead of Cam being frustrated at the post-game press conference. It has since been shared more than 234,000 times and seen by more than 20 million people. It now has nearly 6,000 comments, but on that morning, just one leaped out at me, which mentioned something to the effect of "Peyton sexually assaulted a girl in college."
Now, I get a lot of crap posted on my Facebook page, but I decided, on a whim, to Google "Peyton Manning sexual assault University of Tennessee." That's how I discovered the two old USA Today articles about the case. Later that day, when I wrote an article on the racial double standards in the media between Peyton Manning and Cam Newton, I decided to mention the sexual assault case, and how the allegations had somehow slid right off of Peyton like virtually every other mistake he has ever made in his career.
There it is right there.

Why is all this shite being brought up now?
Posted on 2/13/16 at 1:42 pm to Asphodel
This has been know about forever.
King is acting like he is some kind of investigative journalist for using Google and reading what every SEC fan already knew.

I really don't like Mannings, but this fact makes me a huge fan of Peyton's.

quote:I told you why. Shaun King doesn't like how the white quarterback (Manning) is being praised while the black quarterback (Newton) is being hated on a bit for his behavior after the Super Bowl.
Why is all this shite being brought up now?
He's bringing up an old story to try to take some shine away from Peyton because he's white and he's liked.
That's the motivation.
Once you realize that Shaun King looks at everything through the lens of race, his motivations for everything he writes falls right into place.

The court documents were submitted by the accuser's legal team.

His motivations may be suspect but these court documents he brings into it are alarming.

This is such an old story...
It was reported way back when and I think even S.I. had a story about what Manning did and how his family tried to pressure the University to cover it up.
I don't know why this is news to anyone? The Manning training room incident was well known in the late 90's.
But nobody cared, different culture back then I guess.
