Not to go off topic, but when, if ever, will we get a golf board. This has to happen soon. Too many golfers on the site not to have one. Will it ever happen? What needs to be done for it to happen?

I'm from Chattanooga. My goal on life is to be a member at The Honors. Won't happen, but a man can dream. Supposedly, I heard someone say that the man who created the course, Jack Lupton, turned down an offer for the US Open because he only wanted amateur golf to be played on the course.

He actually just got back from Bandon Dunes which is public and LOVED it. He would not stop talking about it. I have to try and get up there one day, Oregon is just so fricking far.

Make a vacation out of it and check out the state when you do come, you won't be sorry. Come in August, best month of the year.

I doubt it, outside of the 4 majors and possibly the Ryder Cup, the average fan doesn't comment in many of the golfing threads.

There was a big push for one after the Masters because the thread went like 250+ pages.

Bamafan,

I'm from Chattanooga too, and it is true Lupton has turned down offers for many tournaments. He was a very accomplished amateur golfer, and this was when the amateur side was significantly better than the professional side. He believes, as do many old codgers, that the touring professional threatens the sanctity of amateur golf and those who play for honor. Thus the name Honors Course.

when I played competitively I used to play the high dollar balls. But since my job wont let me play as much, I play whatever I get inexpensive within the brand of golf balls I like.

Golf balls have become so expensive it is ridiculous. Instead of playing 40-50 dollar/dozen, I now play 19-25 dollar/dozen balls and still shoot in the low to mid 70's.

I switched from upper tier balls to the Pinnacle Golds and my score went from low-mid 80's to high 70's-low 80's

I think it's because the ball doesn't spin as much so it goes straighter

Relatively speaking, the balls the tour players use (Pro V1/V1X)don't spin as much as they did 10-12 years ago. I laugh thinking about hackers using Tour Balatas

20 so the price is pretty appealing

You can find better balls for 20 buck that are unplayed

Yea the place is just a golf haven. I love that it is all about the amateurs and would never have a pro tourney there. There are cabins right off the practice range that we usually stay in and I can wake up at 7am and walk 15 yards and I am ready to hit balls. So awesome. Also the food is pretty fricking good.
