No. His versatility to play SG-PF essentially and his defense is that of the all time greats.

they lost in the east semi's to the Knicks. they were still a series away in the East from getting close to the finals (had they won)

Prime?

Obviously Durant, he's a massive matchup nightmare.

I'd probably go with Garnett second. Defensive juggernaut who oozes leadership.

I'm overrating Pippen.

Wade

Pippen.

I'm far from a D Wade fan, but he is No. 1 for me from that list. Followed by Pippen, Garnett and Durant

Yep. I went off gut and didn't check the numbers, I just remember watching him when I was a kid and being like damn son the guy is a defensive monster.

I fixed it

Wade played solid defense and would protect the rim. Add 25 ppg for a career and I don't know what else you could ask of a shooting guard.

Cmon now, he's sporting a 28.9 3 point percentage while only attempting a little over 1,300 of them in his career.

Wade is shooting close to 50% for his career. I'd say he shoots good enough. Especially since, during his prime, he didn't need to shoot the 3 cause he'd get to the rim at will and attempt more free throws than Harden does now

No, he doesn't shoot well, he makes layups/dunks. That's like saying DeAndre Jordan is the best shooter in the NBA because he leads the NBA in FG%.

I guess people want to conveniently forget post Bulls Pippen. I love Pip but he was a byproduct of Phil Jackson and the Triangle.

Pippen had an MVP caliber season after MJ retired, but he's still a level below the other three, albeit at the top of that next level. Hard to imagine Pippen leading a team to a title. Hell, he probably didn't have the temperament given his hissy fit when Kukoc was picked by Phil to shoot a game winner in the playoffs that year.

Wade is a top 5 SG all time, and I'd take him in his prime over Kobe.

Durant is a top 5 pure scorer of all time, and I'd flip a coin between him and KG as my No. 1 choice. Both had/have amazing, rare skillsets, size, and athleticism. They're freaks up there with Dream, Shaq, Magic, and Dirk.

Usually when someone overrates Pippen it's so they can elevate Kobe or LeBron over MJ, in which case this whole argument is a waste because there's no reasoning with idiots.

Wade in his prime was incredible.

I think I'd go Durant, Wade, Garnett, Pippen. Pippen would definitely be last even though he was a very good player, but the first 3 all have an argument as the best of this bunch. Very difficult choice.

There was a Pippen fanboy in another thread saying Pippen was better than all these guys. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't crazy.

Pippen fanboy when I stated in the thread that Grant Hill is my favorite player of all time.

quote:

uPER = (1 / MP) *
[ 3P
+ (2/3) * AST
+ (2 - factor * (team_AST / team_FG)) * FG
+ (FT *0.5 * (1 + (1 - (team_AST / team_FG)) + (2/3) * (team_AST / team_FG)))
- VOP * TOV
- VOP * DRB% * (FGA - FG)
- VOP * 0.44 * (0.44 + (0.56 * DRB%)) * (FTA - FT)
+ VOP * (1 - DRB%) * (TRB - ORB)
+ VOP * DRB% * ORB
+ VOP * STL
+ VOP * DRB% * BLK
- PF * ((lg_FT / lg_PF) - 0.44 * (lg_FTA / lg_PF) * VOP) ]

The PER is heavily influenced by DRB and 3 pointers (which favors Bigs-aka why Wright has always had solid PER numbers for a career backup)so as we move forward in the 3 point era of basketball, younger guys seem superior. all of these guys (with the exception of KD) had most of their primes as Alpha Dogs, unlike Pippen...and to compare Career PERs from active players (like Wade) with some left in the tank verses 17 seasons of Pippen who was broken down by the end is scientifically invalid. When Wade hits season 17 and is a role player, lets see
-ETA: and when you factor in Wade's enormous USG of course numbers increase
-KG was a terrible Alpha Dog and afraid to play Center in his prime.
-DWade-a slashing guard prone to injury versues the greatest wing defender and one of the greatest point forwards of all time.
Durant-starting a franchise, probably..but as of now he's a seven footer with foot problems.

but the question youre asking is swayed to players as prospects. 7 footers are always look like better prospects, especially those who can shoot.

All of these players at their best were never the best player in the NBA.

Pippen is probably the best athlete of the four and the best playmaker.

Yeah but DeAndre's come via putback dunks or alley oops. It'd be a whole different story if he posted up like Shaq. I don't care what anyone says, but if you avg 50 FG% as a guard while avg 25 ppg in your prime, you're doing alright.
