We played the rockets three times after the trade.
First game was right after the trade with no real shooting guard. We got blown out
Next game we had Crawford. Blew out the rockets
Third game was a crazy down to the wire finish the Rox won.
My point is that the Pels are somewhere closer to those last two games in terms of capability than the first.
Also I think we had some crazy good +/- numbers with Cousins and AD ON THE floor together. They will be just fine coexisting on the court at the same time.

Jrue is by far the lynchpin in all of this. The 2 bigs still need to be fed the ball and that's on Jrue. He was the one who looked most out of sorts with AD and Boogie bc he needed to figure how to get them the ball in good scoring position.

What are you seeing that I'm not?
Two of the top 15 players in the NBA with an entire offseason to gel. A solid third banana in Jrue. And I have confidence in Dell to fill in the roster around the edges which is what he's always excelled at. They'll be a top 6 seed next year barring injury.

Nice PCT should take the L for making up facts instead of coming in trying to twist his words.
OKC just added George to a top 6 seed. They're gonna win games. Minny and especially NOLA aren't there yet.
IDK why Boom has faith in Utah so much even without Hayward. They're gonna have to hold teams to 85 points to win.

I'm not saying it can't work I'm just saying I haven't seen anything to suggest the Pelicans are going to make a huge leap into a top 6 team in the NBA.
Since CP3 and Harden haven't played together, and CC lost arguably their 2nd most important player in PBev, along w Lou, are they on a "prove it" year or you thinking top 5

Solomon Hill tho..

Which is hard to do when no one defending us gave a shite about Tim fricking Frazier running around on the perimeter

Minny, OKC, and NOLA are pretty interchangable
lol OKC was the 6th seed with Westbrook being the only contributor on our team and we just added Paul George

They finished 11-14 last season with those two all-pros.
Yeah, but that was with Boogie being thrown into the lineup with no cohesion. Plus, Davis and Boogie were held out of games for precautionary reasons.
They were essentially a .500 team last year with Boogie, but even that doesn't mean much because the schedule was weaker on the back-end.
They have a chance to acquire a few shooters to help with the spacing and can for sure be a +.500 team this season

No one is saying they won't. All anyone is saying is that haven't proven enough to be in this conversation.
i am buying pelts stock because I think they can make a huge jump and it's a good value. However there is a reason that people are bearish on them. It's still very much a "wait and see"

They got gobert in the middle and a very unique style of play. They are a tough team to play in the reg season because they grind it out so much. Rubio is better than hill.

That's not to say they won't improve with a full off-season to prepare, but they just haven't shown anything yet and we got a glimpse of 25 games.
To compare the first half of that period to the second half is just ignorant. Not only because you're integrating a new guy into the system, but because we instantly lost a few of our best shooters as well. To think that the Pels this year (with whatever additions we make and a full offseason) to the first dozen or so games after adding Boogie is just stupid.

Well frick, I actually agree with that. Not to mention an improving Rodney Hood and they'll probably look to move Favors in return for another shooter
Posted on 7/1/17 at 9:33 am to Boomshockalocka
Oh and they may keep hill to play off Rubio.

The Pelicans have yet to prove anything that gives me confidence in them being a winning team, much less a top 6 or 7 team in the entire league. Even when Boogie joined the team they still didn't have a winning record.
Of course they can and most likely will improve with a full off-season together, but they just haven't shown anything that inspires confidence.

Nah you're right. I would probably put them solidly at 4 with Minny / NOLA fighting for 5.
And this is assuming Hayward leaves Utah. They're definitely still in that mix if he stays especially adding Rubio.

I agree with this.
Honestly, I think the Pels finish somewhere between 7 (everyone stays healthy and we add a couple contributors) and 10 (we add no one and/or injuries).
But I do see potential for them to jump up to 6 and maybe 5 but that's very unlikely.

I'm not sold on Minnesota making a massive jump to a top 5 spot. Playoff team? Sure.
I'm also not ready to give up on Utah. I think they keep Ingles and Hayward and make another deal or two where they ship Exum out. I really like Donovan Mitchell for them too and think he will have positive contributions in a limited role this year.
