It's funny to see Ohio State 2002 rated so low then to look at who they beat to be champions and then look at the players on that team and how many of them were high draft picks.

Those two teams had a ton of talent.

While I agree that team's resume is lacking, they could beat anyone else on the list. That being said, I've got no problem with them at the bottom of the list.

Wow, there's a pretty even balance of unbeaten and 1 loss teams. 8 of each. LSU would break the tie if not for the two losses.

I'm wondering when someone will go 15-0 in the playoff era.

2002 Ohio State had the lowest point differental among national champions from the BCS/CFB Playoff era despite playing a weak schedule. They didn't even have to face the second best team in the Big 10 that year (Iowa). 2006 Florida had a very low point differential as well but they played against a significantly tougher schedule. Same thing with 2010 Auburn. At least those squads had close shaves against quality competition. 2002 Ohio State barely beat a 7-6 Cincinnati team, a 7-6 Wisconsin team, a 5-7 Illinois team and needed a last minute TD to beat a 7-6 Purdue team. 2002 Ohio State wasn't good. They were lucky.

But...the defense was ridiculous and as we all know defense wins championships. Proven over and over again.

You just made this up. OSU 2002 beat 3 teams who ended the year too 10 but you keep being you. The B1G had the best bowl record that year too

OSU 2002 gets a raw deal in history because of close games and of course the final play.

But they beat a Miami team everyone thought would cake-walk them.

I don't know where they rank because all that stuff surrounding them but they certainly aren't near the bottom. Just like Texas gets the huge love for heating USC, Ohio State earned the love on the field in heating Miami.

That was one of the more impressive teams in hindsight based on Iron Will to win.

They could keep pace with teams outside the crazy o top 5 teans during the BCS era.

Straight up at full strength I'd take 2008 Florida over any of them- what they did post Ole Miss shouldn't be possible in the modern SEC- just annihilated everyone beating good teams by 4-5 TDs- hell even without Percy Harvin the beat Bama in Atlanta by double digits and w/ 75% Harvin beat what was going into the title game- the Greatest Offense in college football history, again by two scores.

But I'm biased, eveeyone is going to back the team they like.

The top 5 is a bit easier

2008 Florida, 2011 Bama, 2005 Texas, 2004 USC and 2001 Miami- there's a clear gap after those 5.

Didn't they beat a shite Nebraska team that didn't even win the Big 12 North?

No way is Miami #1 on that list.

17 members of that team got drafted in the 1st round. 38 total got drafted. 43 trips to the Pro Bowl.

Yes they are number 1 on that list. Arguably they are the greatest college football team of all time.

They'd be my #2

I agree with all of these but the order of the last two- 2011 Bama was just better than 2009 Bama.

If we're being honest, Saban teams always struggle against mobile QBs, 2005 Vince Young wouldn't have needed an amazong second half rally, hell he might not have played the second half he did that quite a bit in 2005

frick that. LSU is the only choice for this year. USC is not a "co champion". No such thing.

LSU played OU in the title game and won. LSU is the the ONLY championship team for 2003.
