Just curious... who exactly IS a good match-up for Lesnar? That dude is an animal, and I don't see him getting caught in another rookie mistake again...
Someone with great subs, is a good start. Obviously Fedor is the guy everyone will say would beat Brock. Personally, I think Fedor would win too, but Brock has a much much better shot in that matchup then most people think. I wouldn't give anyone better then a 60% or so chance of beating that guy, and really Fedor is the only guy I would favor over him. Barnett is another big name, but really I think if by the time they ever fought Brock would beat him as well.

i'd like to see him try to throw around carwin
Posted on 3/14/09 at 7:11 pm to PortCityTiger24
Carwin is someone that can test his strength, but I don't know that he is Brocks caliber of wrestler. Carwin has a wrestling background, if I'm not mistaken, I just don't think he is on that level. I'd love to see those two have a standup brawl to be honest.

I'd love to see that match-up... I want to see if Lesnar's big watermlon anvil head can take a hit, and Carwin sure does launch some bombs...
Posted on 3/14/09 at 11:02 pm to FLU
Carwin may be near Lesnar's wrestling pedigree, but the 30-35 lbs Lesnar has on him would turn it into a mismatch.
Barnett and Fedor obviously would beat Lesnar. I'd like to see him and Arlovski. Carwin would give him a go. Big Nog would probably catch him in something 3-4 times out of 10.

I strongly disagree. Fedor would beat him (at present) but Lesnar would beat Barnett, sorry. You strongly underestimate Lesnar, who is only going to get better. He's only had 4 fights for God's sake! What you people fail to understand is that you have never seen an animal like him before. You are comparing him to all of these fighters who have been around for a while, but Lesnar is a "new breed." He will be like Mike Tyson (circa 1988) before long.

Lesnar would get KTFO against Barnett. He is way behind in the standup.

Sorry buddy. I don't see Lesnar getting KO'd by anybody. Lesnar would handle Barnett the same way he handled Herring... with ease.
Posted on 3/15/09 at 10:34 am to FLU
only a wwf fan would compare barnett to herring.

what the hell????
herring hits harder than barnett, but his overall game is not nearly good as josh's. i do think heath would have beaten gilbert yvel in a more convincing way but more strikes. but josh dominated that fight from start to finish.

I know you hate their personalities, but as a fight fan I can't believe you don't like them once the fight starts. There is no bitch in either diaz brother.
I was talking about their personalities - if you can call them that

Sorry, no WWF fan here...
I said Lesnar would HANDLE Barnett the same way he handled Herring. I never said Herring's style was similar to Barnett's. I think Lesnar would handle most heavyweights the same way he handled Herring. There's only one HW in the world right now that I think stands a chance against Lesnar and that's Fedor.

Any chance UFC starts a super hw division?
Posted on 3/15/09 at 4:03 pm to 3lsu3
Probably not. The talent pool for HW is thin enough as it is and dividing that division up would just make it worse.
Posted on 3/15/09 at 4:03 pm to FLU
Meh, there are definitely HWs with a chance to beat Brock. Mir happens to be one of them. I'm not picking Mir, but the chance for a sub will be very much in play. I don't know that we will see Lesnar charge out and be so reckless again though. He could lay on guys for the rest of his career and be one of the hardest guys to beat in history.

Either way, it doesnt make any sense. Herring is not a top Heavyweight and has no ground game. Barnett is generally thought of as the best HW out there not named Fedor. He has a strong ground game with a lot of sub wins and very good stand up.
Statements like yours show you don't watch many fights/different fighters. There is more than just the UFC out there.

Dude I have been watching MMA since its inception. I was at the early UFC fights back when they used to come to New Orleans on a regular basis. I am just not as naive as you are. I recognize the legit beast that Lesnar is, while you are still holding on to the coattails of these guys have been around for a while. Well, like I said, just wait and see... wait and see.
Posted on 3/15/09 at 9:32 pm to FLU
mmk. The beast is 2-1. Let's not get carried away.

in other words, you believe whatever the UFC tells you.
Mir beats him again. Fedor would destroy him. If he fights Carwin or Gonzaga they beat him.
3-1 and the win over the 45 year old (who is 6-6 in his last 12, including some losses and wins at 205) is the only slightly impressive win. The other wins are over HH (4-5-1NC in his last 10) and a 2-6 Korean guy that was KO 4 times, submitted once, and tapped due to strikes against brock. Tapped due to strikes... didn't get ko'd just didn't wanna fight.
P-A-P-E-R C-H-A-M-P-I-O-N
edit, the Korean guy is actually 3-6 now.
