On Sunday night, we pointed out that Raiders linebacker Vontaze Burfict could be suspended for his illegal hit on Colts tight end Jack Doyle even though Burfict was ejected. Reportedly, Burfict will be suspended for the hit.
According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL, the league office likely will suspend Burfict today for lowering his helmet and ramming it into Doyle’s helmet.
Burfict has a long history of suspensions for various infractions, but his three illegal hits from 2018 — which drew fines in excess of $165,000 — will factor most significantly into a decision to suspend him.
The league office decided not to suspend Burfict after a couple of illegal hits against the Steelers last October due to concerns that, if the suspension were overturned on appeal, an impression would be created in 32 locker rooms that the league office is overreaching. This time around, the league seems to be willing to roll the dice that the neutral, independent arbitrators will agree that it’s time for Burfict to take a seat, for Sunday’s game against the Bears or longer.

Vontaze Burfict is facing a season-long suspension for his late conduct on field, per source.

Vontaze Burfict will appeal any suspension. He had a 5-game suspensión reduced by a neutral arbitrator in 2017. League’s job is to discipline and, in effect, send a message regardless of appeal.

Good. He's a piece of shite. Anything Antonio brown did this last year or so should be blamed on him too.

Burfict is probably the only player in any sport that I’ve actually wished he’d get hurt. Would be great if someone blindsided him, helmet straight to the chin, knock him the frick out and in the process he breaks his leg so bad he can never play again.

It was just reported on ESPN radio that he is in fact suspended for the remainder of the season

Good. Get him out of the game. It's a pattern with him and he either cannot figure out how to tackle without injuring people or he's intentionally trying to injure people. Either way is inexcusable.

I was hoping he was going to have more air time on Hard Knocks

They probably cut all his footage
Because he brought nothing to the table

That was a dirty tackle and the sort of thing that can cause lifetime issues.
Burfict does that regularly. I don't wish injury on anyone, but if he got banned from the NFL tomorrow, I'd be good with it. From head hunting to twisting ankles in piles, Burfict has been intentionally trying to hurt people for a while.

Bye.
I’d probably object to such a suspension if it were anyone other than Burfict, who has a lengthy history of dirty hits, fines, and suspensions from the NFL.
The league is attempting to minimize certain types of hits and he isn’t getting the message, so it needs to be explained to him.

Exactly, I'm almost hoping someone comes in this thread and tries to argue for Burfict specifically

Doyle should have gotten down quicker. Great remember me hit!

The suspension is because of Burficts history
If it was anyone else/a guy with no “record” he doesn’t get the season

The dude seems like he plays football solely to hurt people.
He's basically the prototype of what the NFL is trying to remove from the game.
I'm honestly surprised he's made it this long.

Not sure what was all that worse about his hit vs the hit the Pats did against Josh allen
