I thought the Wild were going to wear North Stars jerseys today? Or was that just the Saturday Charity game?

Just for the charity game.

Not a good day today for the Hawks, have been very streaky lately.

Barring injury, there really is no excuse for the Caps to not win it all this year. If they don't win this year, I'm convinced they never will

Only one team in the NHL have won the President's Trophy more than once yet never won the Stanley Cup... the Canucks. The Caps definitely have a well-earned rep for choking in the playoffs, but that's because they take 3-1 leads in series, only to lose in Game 7. Their record in Game 7 is the worst of any pro team in North American sports. It's truly horrific.

OTOH, the Caps have never been this good. Not ever. The Caps have as many standings points now as they had two seasons at season's end. They still have 25 games to play. They could lose every game and have the same record as they did two seasons ago.

Really, what was the Caps team favored to win a Cup that didn't? Maybe the 2009-10 Firewagon Caps, but there was a lot of skepticism that a team with an offense that great a defense so mediocre could win the Cup. They weren't the favorites. This year... this is the first time ever that the Caps are favorites to win the Cup.

It's terrifying.

Remember all the people in this thread that said the move to Barclays was going to be the best thing to ever happen to the Islanders?

Trade deadline is Friday at 3 correct? I could just see Montreal trading everyone away to just to say we are trying.

How did some of you guys go about picking a team?

I grew up watching the Stars when I was a little kid when they had Mike Modano and Brett Hull because they were actually on tv around here. I watched all the time too. But, the games stopped being shown and I fell out of the sport and out of fandom for them
Because of it. They are leading as my choice to get back into it, but I have two other potential options:

Nashville - I might be moving here very soon
Pittsburgh - random as frick, but I have a penguins shirt. Seems like a good fan base.

I've been to an nhl game before and enjoyed it and think I could really get into it. Should I just watch these teams play some first or pull straws or some shite?

Didn't know a thing about hockey. Moved to Nashville and took an internship with the Preds. Been a fan ever since.

Out of those choices, I would go with Dallas. Especially since you have a connection with them as a kid. Seguin, Benn, and Klingberg are all established, young players. Nichushkin could be there soon. Entertaining style. Should be good for the next decade.

I really can't stomach another Wings blown lead and OT loss. Poor Blashill's gonna look bad when the playoff streak gets broken.

Do they have quality streams for games like r/NBA does?

I think if I do move to Nashville I'll likely start following the predators a good bit, but Dallas does have the strongest connection to me considering the proximity and growing up watching them.

Yes, you can find streams or purchase Center Ice. NHL.com also has highlights of every goal pretty much immediately after it is scored.

Try being a Hab fan right now? I mean hell I would like to just get into OT once a month instead of being blown out early or blowing 3 goal leads in the 2nd.

The Flames and Canucks made another trade. Shinkaruk for Markus Granlund.

This is so weird. They just did the Bartschi deal. Then again, Toronto and Ottawa did the Phaneuf deal recently as well. Maybe division rivalries just don't matter as much.

Without question, this is Washington's best team/chance to bring home a "Cup". The playoff pressure they'll face will be huge, but they've got the talent/hunger to get it done. We'll see.....

Go Lightning !!!!!

Go Stars.

I was the same. Grew up watching them and listening to them on the radio when I was younger. I kind of fell out of the sport after those glory years, but I was also a pre-teenager then.

I've been a diehard Stars fan for the last 6-7 years, got back into it my senior year of high school.

We have perhaps the best young core in the league with Benn, Sequin and Klingberg and are only going to continue getting better moving forward. We play a very entertaining style of play also.

if you live in texas now almost all of their games are shown on FSSW, other than that though I'm not sure where you can catch them. I've used Reddit for soccer streams, but no other sports so I can't help you out there.

Seviour for Dallas. Had to blow the horn to stop the game for a review. Even in slo-mo it was difficult to see it went in. It bounced off the back crossbar and out so quick. Stars up 3-2.
