Hated Randy Moss early in his career but now got to appreciate his personality more and knew he was a talented WR.

Dirk.
Although I finally came around on him around 2014. Used to fricking hate his guts when I was a teenager but goddamn his game is so pure and he's genuinely a good dude.
Replace Dirk for Tim Duncan and it's pretty much the exact same thing for me.

Kurt Warner. He came out of nowhere and set the NFL world on fire. I tossed it up to the system and all the talent around him, thought he was lucky to be in the right place at the right time. He almost won another super bowl too.

Dwyane Wade.
I don't feel like he was as good a player as he actually was. His prime is better than Kobe's, but it never felt that way from a coverage standpoint.

Kobe.
But only by a little bit.

NBA - Chris Webber - moved around a lot but always carried his teams to the playoffs.
NFL - Tiki Barber - pre fantasy football explosion was a top 25 all time back.
MLB - Nomar Garciaparra - pre injury was in the group of Jeter and Rodriguez as best short stop in MLB

He’s 3 overall in scoring and 15 in steals. I mean he’s got to be in the top 10.
He's easily the most fascinating athlete I've ever watched, though(on and off the court).
The man is smart, introspective, highly competitive, and gave everything he had to the game. Yet the style of basketball he chose to play kept him from being a top ~3 basketball player of all time.
I guarandamntee you he wishes he could go back and mix in some of what Lebron has done as far as using his basketball IQ for the good of every teammate on pretty much every single possession.
Kobe could have been SO much better.

Kevin Garnett (TWolves era, prior to joining the Big 3 in Boston)

As far as possessing all the traits you'd want in a player, Kobe's near the top for me (though it was rarely if ever reflected by efficiency): dude was competitive AF, always wanted the ball in crunch time, great scorer, great defender, a winner, the closest player I've ever watched comparable to Michael Jordan since Jordan retired, to me he was MJ 2.0 it could've been way greater for those who would analyze his career but he was an all-timer

Cal Ripken. Players don’t go a week now without needing rest.

He had at least 2 more years in him, I hated it that he left the Braves after 1 year and retired, even though Kimbrel was ready. Braves could have used him.

Also Vince Coleman.
Last player with 100 steals in a season.
Ricky Henderson overshadowed how good Coleman was.
