I know man. Must have been really hard coaching Jordan, Pippen, and the rest of those teams. They certainly weren't winning shite without Phil

I don't think you understand. Actually, I know you don't.

Those teams did not win until Phil became the head coach. The Bulls were close. Phil got them there. The Lakers were a talented but underachieving team. Phil gets there and they 3 peat. He leaves, they go back to mediocrity. He returns and they win two more titles and play in the finals.

Discrediting Phil because of the great players he has had is equal to talking out of your arse.

What does everybody think Pop would have done with the teams Phil had?

What about Phil with the teams Pop had?

Do you think either would be more successful?

Less successful?

? It's a fact. Weren't = past tense as in they didn't win until he became head coach. I didn't think it was that hard to understand.

I've got to give the edge to Phil, but certainly agree they both deserve to be in the same conversation.

Phill has what, 11 rings? Those teams weren't doing anything without him. People are too quick to dismiss him.

Those teams weren't doing anything without Jordan, Shaq, and Kobe.

Phil's great ability was to surround himself with talent and take on distractions so they could focus on playing ball.

I agree with this. It's dumb to say it's a blow out either way. They're both elite all time coaches.

Pop has guys that fit his style. I have a hard time imagining him coaching guys like Shaq and Kobe or Dennis Rodman, hell even Pippen. Those guys have big personalities. Has he ever coached anyone like that?

He's a great coach and I am not shitting on him, just defending Jackson, who despite his rings is underrated...at least on message boards apparently.

why would Phil be coaching the exact same personnel if he were in San Antonio? I'd imagine he would have brought in guys to play his system, dumb scenario.

Pops is a great coach, but its a tad ridiculous when people pretend he's worked with shite talent

Was GM when Rodman was in town. Didn't go too well.

I would agree that Pop couldn't coach some of those personalities. Hell, Rodman apparently still hates Pop (when he was GM of the Spurs) for suspending him back in 1995.

People forget that Phil had problems with Pippen during that non-Jordan period, though.

Kukoc hit the game winner

Pippen was so awesome that year though. The Bulls were robbed from playing in the Finals by Hugh Hollands.

And for the record, I think Pop is better but I agree with this as well.

I do think it is pretty silly to say that Phil is automatically better because he has more rings though.
