So do you support the Olympics?
Sure, why not?

would you support if your state made a bid and you had to fund?
Absolutely not. Olympics are a boondoggle.

, in America we all tune in for 4am curling during the winter Olympics and 5am swim meets in the summer.
really? Where is this? I mean I might watch it, but I ain't going out of my way to watch crap like this and ratings saying you are wrong to say "we all tune in" cause we don't.

Biggest problem for a Louisiana Summer Olympiad is the date.
The biggest problem for a Louisiana Summer Olympiad is that it would be in Louisiana.

So do you support the Olympics?
My undergrad capstone was studying the economic effect of hosting an olympics...and for America, I can say Yes. Assuming of course we host it in a city that already has infrastructure and most of the facilities in place.

If Missouri and kansas teamed up for a Kansas City bid, I would.

I enjoy watching the Olympics and I attended several events when they were in Atlanta. I love the idea of the Olympics and think they are on the whole a good thing.
In theory they could be good for a city, but I think it is really difficult to pull it off efficiently, and the difficulty is increased by the IOC's demands. Atlanta actually did a decent job of spending money wisely, but was largely criticized by the media and even the IOC (and now Atlanta is, IMO wasting a lot of that good work by building unnecessary sports facilities). My understanding is that Barcelona also leveraged the opportunity well. Doing it the way China did it was a huge waste.
New Orleans/LA is not a good place for them, but I would support a major American city with the facilities largely in place making a bid, as long as the bid was a responsible one (which would probably mean that it would not be accepted).

Ratings say the Olympics had 21 viewers and that is down actually. That is a lot of people tuning into the Olympics.
