It's nothing but hot air and posturing.

NOTHING is going to happen.

Even if, and that is a big if, Congress somehow passed legislation regarding football playoffs, it would be tied up in court for years.

Supreme Court would likely find it unconstitutional.

Playoffs are never going to come until more progressive presidents begin to take over at schools. And then it's never going to be any more than 4 teams.

They are too big on preserving the bowls and worried about travel during the first part of a new semester. They won't trim the regular season, either.

Four teams at most and that's quite a few years away.

Probably all you will see when the BCS comes up for renewal is further expansion. Perhaps to MWC champion.

Just heard this as well, Pres. Obama has demanded that the US gov should over-see all county (& parrish) fairs to make sure the correct person is crowned bueaty queen. All hail Obama
I am for a playoff, Iam NOT for the US gov getting involved. Is this Nazi Germany?

Nothing is "given" to the SEC champ.....this is to appease the "undefeated" teams who play inferior talent all season yet want to
"share in the wealth"

OK and Bama screwed up by not taking these guys seriously.....and ended up losing (but is was great to watch those 2 storied prigrams go down).

It's easy for a talented team to get up for one game and win----but B-State and Utah couldn't play that caliber talent all year and but "undefeated"

It's really simple -- penalize the system that calls it a national championship unless it is the end result of a single-elimination tournament.

A plus one would fit this mold.

USC trojans get more bye weeks than LSU Tigers...how can you choose playoff contenters in a format less than 16 teams when different bye weeks give advantages to non-championship conferences.

Actually, yes. Like setting up the economy to improve, which enables companies to stop the freeze on hiring while creating more positions.

The BCS has brought this upon themselves. I doubt it will pass, but the fact that something like this even exists means playoffs in all divisions of college football is eminent. The majority of the country wants it, senators from every state want their state to have a chance at it, and small schools know that they will never have a chance as long as polls decide who plays for titles.

Playoffs are coming one day. Bet on it.

In my opinion, this is gonna make things alot tougher for LSU and the rest of the SEC, as the :fairness nazis" are gonna swoop in and work as hard as they can to knock down the big name schools and start giving out championships to cinci, hawaii, new mexico state community college, etc. Comments?

I think you worry too much.

I was waiting for the obligatory mindless snipe at the president. If you knew anything at all, you would know this has nothing to do with Obama and was sponsored by Joe Barton, a GOP from Texas.

Try to not be so gleefully stupid.

Except it is republicans pushing for this. But I know you were all proud of coming up with a clever word like "Dumbocrats" and just needed to try it out.

This has no chance of passing and I think it is pushed every year by either Joe Barton or Orrin Hatch. The goal is to get the BCS to change on its own, and these bills are to encourage that change.

You can always go to China or Mexico or India or Honduras or Colombia or Indonesia or Malaysia or Korea or some other nice foreign destination and work for a nice American company for peanut wages, no benefits, no worker protection or rights, etc. But at least you'll have a job!
