You know PSU or USC will make the title game. Just like OSU the last 2 years, a team that doesnt play a tough schedule will get in.

Big 10 is the 3rd best conference in the nation this year. Get off your SEC highhorse.

PSU will have quality wins over Oregon State, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan State, and Ohio State if they win out. That's an impressive resume, plus @ Wisky isn't a "bad" win either.

you don't need to talk shite about the Big10 right now.

If LSU were relevant, yes. But they're not this season so let it go. PSU and tOSU would both beat LSU right now.

I hope so. I wish we could play Washington State 12 times and go play in a BCSNCG just so we could play in one. Whatever we have to do to get there I will take it.

A team that plays this schedule, only one team ranked in the top 10, does not deserve a title game. Teams that play top teams on a weekly basis, like the Big 12 and SEC, deserve a title shot. Look at the last 2 championship results.

Here is PSU's schedule. Real scary
Aug. 30, 2008 Coastal Carolina (Big Ten Network) W 66-10 1-0
Sept. 6, 2008 Oregon State W 45-14 2-0
Sept. 13, 2008 at Syracuse (ABC) W 55-13 3-0
Sept. 20, 2008 Temple (Big Ten Network) W 45-3 4-0
Sept. 27, 2008 Illinois (ABC) W 38-24 5-0 (1-0)
Oct. 4, 2008 at Purdue (ESPN) W 20-6 6-0 (2-0)
Oct. 11, 2008 at Wisconsin (ESPN) W 48-7 7-0 (3-0)
Oct. 18, 2008 Michigan (ESPN) W 46-17 8-0 (4-0)
Oct. 25, 2008 at Ohio State (ABC) W 13-6 9-0 (5-0)
Nov. 8, 2008 at Iowa TBA
Nov. 15, 2008 Indiana TBA
Nov. 22, 2008 Michigan State

I think tOSU and PSU both beat LSU, but LSU easily finishes 3rd in the Big10 this season.

Of course they probably finish 4th in the SEC, so not a huge difference.

Uh, SEC teams don't play top 10 teams on a weekly basis. Just because they will play a top 10 team 1-2 more times a season doesn't mean they should leapfrog Penn State (a 1 loss SEC team).

Congrats on winning the rose bowl after you choke against Stanford/Oregon State.

Do you know the reason behind us playing Coastal Carolina? That day was to honor the undefeated 1968 and 1969 teams because some of the guys from that team now run the athletics at Coastal Carolina and it gave their kids a game they will never forget (and the athletic dept a nice payday.)

Temple and the Cuse are old traditional rivals and Oregon State beat USC. The rest is the Big 10 which we have no choice on.

We can only play the teams on our schedule regardless of who they are. We don't control who we play in the Big 10. We just won every game on the schedule so far.

fwiw, the reason is pretty irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. Not that it's a bad story.

I think LSU would probably be second in the Big 10 this season. LSU vs. Ohio State would be a toss up at this point, but look at the last two championship games and I'd have to give us the edge. OSU isn't as good as Florida or UGA, for sure.

Fact is, if Alabama, Penn State, and Texas all go undefeated, Penn State will be left out.

Totally agree with you Boo on the left out stuff. We've been there before enough times in the past to know it can definately happen.

FWIW I like our chances in any bowl game against anyone because we have always been highly successful in bowls. 9-2 L11 and 26-12-2 all-time in bowls (14-5-1 in the big ones.) No one in college football is better all-time (just about all of those are under JoePa as well.)

The good news for you is that you have by FAR the easiest road at this point.

The real question is whether a 1-loss SEC champ would pass you guys up if they run the table. I think it's possible.

Also possible that a 1-loss Big XII champ could be in front of you in the BCS standings. Just look at how Oklahoma is so high despite a loss.

I wouldnt doubt if Florida, USC or Oklahoma/Oklahoma St. jump PSU, by the end of the year. One of them very well could.

Throw in the SECCG and it's by far tougher than Penn State's schedule.
