Reminds me of the 2009 MLB Draft. Coming into that draft, it was considered extremely weak outside of Strasburg but 24 teams still passed on Mike Trout because of the very poor perception of New Jersey high school baseball.

I do not know who ANY of those players are, could not identify any of them and have only read the names of two of them. Believe it or not, I was once an NBA die-hard. Funny how your life and interests change over time.

Hawks drafted at 16 and had told Giannis they would take him if he was there.

I wanna every time I think about that. especially since the Hawks got the next 2 picks immediately after Giannis - and one was a draft night trade. could they not have moved up one more spot?

also, Danny Ferry would secretly go to Europe to scout Giannis. Larry Drew was the Hawks coach at the time. they fired him, and he gets the Bucks job a few weeks before the draft. I always guessed Drew gave the Bucks a tip.

Still the fourth best player on that list, after Giannis, McCollum, and Oladipo. I guess some would rate Adams higher.

Rudy Gobert went 27 in this draft too

Bennett really doesn't get enough hate for being terrible.

Jeez, that's a legit terrible list. I may be wrong, but aren't half of these guys out the league now. Anthony Bennett has to be one of the worst #1 picks of all time. But at the same time, Idk when from this draft you take #1. Giannis was a 150 pound unproven guy. Nobody was taking him. I guess you take Oladipo, who I like him, but would definitely be an underwhelming #1 pick.

Obviously Giannis is a superstar, CJ, Oladipo, and Steven Adams are all solid players who I wouldn't mind having on my team. But geez when either of those are your 2nd best player out of a draft, just shows how terrible it is.

Fwiw, I remember Giannis being drafted. Analysts were comparing him to Kevin Durant without a shot. He had potential from the beginning. But I doubt anyone had him being a 2-time MVP type potential.

One of the best moves the Pelicans ever made, trade Nerlens Noel for Jrue Holiday

Makes you wonder if Giannis would still have become the Greek Freak had he been drafted say by the Kings.

Like 75 percent of that list is straight bust, wow

That draft was 7 years ago and all of those guys are still in the league except Bennett and Muhammad. The 2000 draft was much worse imo.
