This is some real Karen shite here.

I’m still not sure why people who don’t watch the NBA and don’t like basketball have to let everyone know about it. Same thing vegans do.

If you use politically charged messaging, you keep wokes and cucks, lose non-wokes

I can hunt every Sunday in fall/winter and not care about missing the NFL. Back in the day, as a kid and teen/maybe college as well… the roles were reversed.

Call it how I see it, baw. Phil apparently does too.

They even had slogans on the floor and the baseline. It was trying to cater to an audience or trying to bring a certain audience to the game, and they didn't know it was turning other people off. People want to see sports as non-political. Politics stays out of the game; it doesn't need to be there."

NBA sets all-time records for attendance and sellouts during 2022-23 regular season

The NBA set records for total attendance, average attendance, percentage of capacity and sellouts in the 2022-23 regular season. A record 791 sellouts shattered the previous mark of 760 set during the 2018-19 season, and arenas were filled to an all-time-high 97 percent capacity.

Both capitulated, but the damage was done.

They lost a significant demo.

They still make bank, but could be making more.

I see this phrase used often

It is important to note that the opposite is currently happening with the nba

Viewership was down on the regular season but they had their best financial year ever, exceeding 10B in revenues in 2022

The expectation is that 2023 will be similar

It has a global footprint that is largely unaffected by politics

This can’t be argued. The NBA definitely went worldwide.

It’s been a less entertaining league to watch in my opinion. The game is less team oriented, more star focused, officiating has somehow continued to get even worse, and the pushed political agendas just make it even worse.

They made their choice to let the players control it and Silver is the perfect pansy to let them just ruin the game, because he doesn’t give a damn about the game and only about money and politics.

Everyone wants to say individual skills of the players have gone up, but I don’t agree. The style of play changed and players shifted. You just didn’t have bugs taking 3’s, so it wasn’t a focus of their game. That is why trying to act like players of today are so much better is stupid. Different eras focused on different skills.

But, it’s just not as fun and players are simply not as tough as before. They refuse t play through injuries, need load management, and all kinds of bs but injuries are maybe worse now than before.

In the end, mediocre product targeted bot to fans of the sport, but fans of certain lifestyles (think hip hop not race).

These playoff games used to be intense. Now it’s anything but a physical game. Just pick and rolls over and over again. Players getting ejected for next to nothing.

Even in my 20s I use to get pretty hyped, I guess because of fantasy but since I quit that watching sports is pretty hard to do. I only watch championships now mainly and big ufc fights.

Smart is always a relative term. On a personal level, Jackson lost me years ago on with his Zen Master foolery. That doesn't mean I didn't enjoy the Lakers. And that is the difference between having fun and getting involved in a lot of social/political nonsense.

Not many here are going to quit mixing politics with sports as long as they stay on social media. For most of these clown comments, it's only because politics is more important to them than the NBA. Big Deal. For a ton of people, politics is a sport. They eat it, breathe it, and sleep it. And then when your favorite crap spreader says something it gets bantered around on social media sites, yes, just like this one, and the thread starts sounding like a roundtable debate on CNN or FOX News.

Fans can't keep politics out of their life. They love misery and then want to share it with all those who simply love sports. That obviously includes the Zen Master.

I think this is what made him great and able to handle dudes like Rodman, who most coaches would have considered radioactive and not have him on their roster.

I would put that with MJ more than anyone else. Watching Jordan go up the court like they were holding his mother for ransom every single time sobers up even the biggest nitwit.

Phil was also around when Kobe blew up the Lakers. I think he wrote a book about that foolery.
