2014 Spurs. Beautifully unselfish offense.

I would say the Golden State Warriors whose offense was constant movement without the ball, screens and motion..

I submit that the Warriors were above average when it came to team basketball and offensive basketball iq .

They shared ball as good as the '14 Spurs and the Showtime Lakers that own the season assist record..

Starting in the 2014-15 championship season through the 2023-24 season;they led the league in average assists per game 7 times....

'14-'15 apg 26
'15-'16 apg 27
'16-'17 apg 30
'17-'18 apg 28
'18-'19 apg 29
'19-'20 apg 25*
'20'21 apg 27
'21-'22 apg 27*
'22-'23 apg 29
'23-'24 apg 29*

*** denotes the seasons that the GSW did not lead the NBA in apg

The 2013-14 championship winner, San Antonio Spurs averaged 25apg.....

There are only five or six NBA teams who play with more than a superficial degree of team unity," -Phil Jackson

So Billy Hoyle was right

I think there is a good argument the modern NBA is too hyper-individualistic.

Obviously. Compared to other sports, the NBA has by far the most fans that are fans of players rather than teams and just follow a player(s) wherever they go. Not saying these fans don't exist in other sports but nowhere near the level of what the NBA has.

2024 seems like an odd year to bust this out, hero ball was more common in the immediate post-Jordan era but has waned quite a bit. Someone like Iverson probably represents the peak.

Now the Eastern European influence is huge, and someone like Steve Kerr having a ton of success as a coach (who was a 3pt specialist as a player) has put a premium on open shot making, to the point where true driving scorers are less valued.

just ignored the entire 2010s with the beautiful game spurs and the gsw dynasty that emphasized team ball and off ball movement.

Few people on this board actually watch NBA

It's the weird obsession; you want to hate someone but you want them to entertain you and support you

The coach who won 5 titles with Kobe doesn’t like modern basketball because not enough passing??? Now that’s some funny hypocritical stuff.

Warriors, Spurs, Nuggets, have all won titles since then and were true “teams”.

Hell, the super team heat were a phenomenal teal with an incredible collection of talent also.

I love how this country is trying so hard to end prejudice, yet we also go out of our way to make everything about race. Carry on.
