I kind of understand his point though, and Dave mentioned it in the video today. Portnoy is never going to apologize to the cancel mob (and he shouldn't), but he should definitely try not to put his black employees in a position where they have to defend their employment with Barstool.

Portnoy's video today made a lot of sense.

To put it bluntly, it’s especially fricked up that our black coworkers have been unfairly put in the position of choosing to either a) accept racist remarks, or b) publicly fighting with their boss

They could also just keep doing their jobs and not be babies that can't handle hearing a word they don't like.

This is true pussification of America. Both from Dave in cowing to the mob and apologizing for jokes, and from these poor black employees and their white Knight PFT for investing the N word with such power to hurt them.

The stigma around the N word flat out does not make sense.
Shun people that use it in a non-joking way? Sure I am right there with you.
Lose your shite because someone said it in a joking way to a bunch of white people? No, that simply doesn't make sense and we are lesser as a society for making it so powerful.

Big Cat came out a few days ago and said something similar...

again... same thing with Mike FLorio...

they only feel bad now after they've made their careers...

when they were trying to make content for clicks and money they didn't care at all

Dave thinks he has the best response in any situation. He’s that person who shows up to a funeral for someone who died by suicide and tells the parents:

“You know I thought about suicide once, and then realized how great my life was. So sorry for your loss.”

I'm not disagreeing with your point, but why did they have to defend their employment? Defend it from who? From what? If they don't want to work there they shouldn't, but if they aren't being discriminated against and don't feel that Dave is racist or makes the workplace hostile, then why do they need to respond in any way?
I want to understand.

A lot of people who end up at places like Barstool get big on websites like Twitter first. Take Tyler for example. Dude got popular because he was hilarious on Twitter. He garnered a big following with black people and then white people. He got hired by Barstool and makes funny arse content pretty regularly, but at his roots, he's a funny black dude on Twitter.

His employment at Barstool has probably been pretty good for him, but now he has a bunch of people who have been following him from the beginning who are questioning him because his boss said some dumb and racist shite and then told everybody to go frick themselves when he got called out.

Normally I love when Dave tells the cancel mob to frick off and think he should continue to do so, BUT he should be aware that he now employs several minorities and he owes it to them to not make shite harder for them if he can avoid it. It's basically what he talked about in his "emergency press conference" today. He's not going to apologize for trying to be funny, but he ought to be able get perspective from people close to him.

I think Dave is an overall really good guy that cares about his employees. But right now, it’s not possible to have a private face and be a heel in public on this issue. I doubt any of the guys/ladies that work for Barstool think he’s an a-hole. It’s a role.
