I like the idea. It's something different and I can't stand any modern artist anyway.

He has a great live show, and a lot of very good original music as well as his parody stuff. Love Weird Al.

Dunno about the Super Bowl, though.

I could get behind a Steve Perry-fronted Journey for the halftime show.

I'd enjoy a Weird Al halftime show enough...he's easily talented enough, but "mainstream America" may not be familiar enough with him. But I'd require him to at least do some of his older shite like Fat and The Sage Begins.

I'd definitely take him over some of the bullshite they've trotted out over the years.

ETA: Though in general I don't really care about the halftime show or really pay too much attention to it. I'd actually pay more attention of Weird Al was in it.

it would be a joke if he headlined the Super Bowl halftime show.

Isn't that kind of the point?

I'm not sure how much mainstream america hasn't heard of him. He's had a 35 year career and I'd say a stalwart of popular culture for the whole time. I'd imagine everyone in the demographic of 18-49 year old males have certainly heard of him, and probably like at least one song. Now the tween demographic, that's a lost cause, but it's not like they're clamoring for more Springsteen or U2 or Journey either. So between the tween choice of One Direction, the traditional older rock band choice of...oh who hasn't done it yet...Grand Funk Railroad, and Weird Al...I think Weird Al would garner the best audience and certainly the most press, even if it's tongue in cheek.

I would rather sign a petition for no halftime show because they all suck.

I don't disagree with that at all. And I meant mainstream being familiar with him in terms of knowing what songs he sings...I know most people generally have heard of him and know who he is.

Oh sure, ok. yeah. I suppose it would be tough to expect the general public to know more than the top 10 or 15 parodies. And then you have queers like me who say things like "oh but his best work are his originals! Here, let me play you "Albuquerque"

I would. It'll be better than the shite they've given us the past 10 years or so.
So who would you want for the halftime show that wouldn't be shitty?

And which halftime shows were awesome prior to 10 years ago?
