They beat the residing Kings of college football, giving them the BEST win of the season for any team.

Is it, though? Georgia’s ranked 6th. Bama beat them on a neutral site. Texas is ranked 3rd. Oklahoma beat them on a neutral site. Both games closer than the next one, though. Bama is ranked 4th. Texas beat them in Tuscaloosa. I’d argue Bama’s win over Georgia paradoxically made Texas’s win over Bama the “best” of the season.

I do agree with you that Texas and Bama were tied at the hip. Bama couldn’t get in without Texas also getting in, and Texas wasn’t getting in without Georgia losing.

I hate that this is Bama we’re having to argue against. (Although, they’re getting the benefit of the doubt largely because they are Bama. But I do think Georgia has built up enough equity the past several years that they’d be getting the same treatment if the roles were reversed). But I hate that it’s Bama because, on an LSU message board, a lot of our arguments—no matter how logical—will be hand-waved away as sour grapes without even bothering to consider their merits. It’s why I haven’t changed my logo back from Washington even after they already beat Oregon. (Also, cause frick Texas).

I have long-since gotten over my emotional hatred for Bama and Saban. At this point, what’s the difference between 6, 7, 8? Who cares? I actually think it’s kinda funny that he’s probably gonna pull another one out of his arse in a “down” year when everybody had already buried him in mid September (except you Auburn, you could have buried them for real 2 weeks ago—frick you war chickens), when they needed a miraculous 4th and goal from the 31–a play that had a .1 % chance of working—right after another miraculous muffed punt by the back up punt returner—JUST 2 WEEKS AGO— to survive and still be in this conversation.

But my beef is not with Bama. It’s not sour grapes. I’d be arguing the same thing if it were any other school. My beef is 100% with the committee. Because Florida State could have been any of our schools. Imagine if Joe Burrow had torn his ACL in the 4th quarter of the SECCG against Georgia in 2019 and we were left out. I’d still be trying to murder people. Most of us just want basic fairness. If not that, at least logistical consistency. And to have the committee piss down our legs and tell us it’s raining. As people who invest tons of time, emotions, and money into college football, I don’t think that’s too much to ask. At least have the decency to tell us you’re pissing down our legs when we both know it. Is that too much to ask?

Their thinking would be understandable if they had dropped Florida State to #6 after the Travis injury.

That’s my issue. Bama and Texas are better than FSU right now. But it’s odd that the committee just decided to rank that way at the last hour. Bama jumped 4 spots on Sunday and FSU fell after both won their conference (FSU more comfortably).

That’s what has to really burn Seminole fans, rightly so.

We heard all last week about how much better Oregon was than Washington because they won their other PAC 12 games by a bigger margin than UW.

Yet, UW beat Oregon for the second time.

so the same committee saying they “expect” Bama to win and don’t “expect” FSU to be able to win were wrong on two huge games this past weekend alone?

Why would the committee expect BAMA to beat Georgia and yet keep BAMA as the 8th seed? Good grief dude.

Imagine if every team in CFB was given the mulligans Bama has been given. This sport would be wild. The only reason Bama has been in so many playoffs is because of bullshite like we see this year. Hell, even when your team doesn't win the SEC, you still get in.

Texas was joined at the hip because of their win in Tuscaloosa.

LOL the peak of arrogance from an entitled fan base that is too chicken shite to admit they get benefits that no other programs get.

That isn’t the point he is making.

You and LNCHBX have been ALL OVER the place in this thread.

The point he was making is that the committee is making playoff choices based off of who they believe would win, as they stated in the OP, yet they have been consistently and horrifically wrong.

They expected Georgia to win. They expected Oregon to win.

They were clearly wrong then, yet their current “predictions” are supposed to be taken as valid justification for their playoff choices?

LOL you have no idea what you are trying to argue against. These are the most arrogant and entitled fans of any sport. Texas is going to regret coming to the SEC.

You are going to find out quickly there isn't an SEC Bias, there is a Bama bias.

You have teams in the SEC that do these same things to them ANNUALLY, and then are immediately told their wins didn't count either.

Sounds like a power play by Stanky stinky and the elephants. Screw them, move the SEC commission to neutral state, fire stinky Stanky and his bought and paid for referees. Hire a commissioner who is not an alumni of any SEC school.

If the 1-loss team was LSU and the undefeated team wi th a backup qb was Texas, and somewhere along the way FSU lost a game to say, Clemson, would the committee have held UT out in favor of LSU and FSU, or is this entire thing a justification to put Bama in?

It was always this. Not just this year.

Absolutely not.

UT would have definitely been in, even if they had lost their QB.

The only team that would benefit in this situation is Bama.

They’re tasked to pick the 4 best teams, but that isn’t what they did. They picked 2 teams they thought “deserved it” and 2 they thought were “the best”.

No one in their right mind believes Washington is better than UGA.

BINGO

You are trying to rationalize with entitled, arrogant fans that will NEVER acknowledge that they get to play by different standards. As an LSU fan, I KNOW if LSU were in the same position, they would sit at home. Rightfully so. They lost their biggest game AT HOME. LSU would never hear the end of it from ESPN either.

I HATE FSU. Have hated them since the 90s when they would get solid LA kids to go there and then inevitably lose to Miami. Yet, I fully understand how bad this is for my favorite sport.

I too accepted that CFB is no different than WWE a long time ago. I admit I do enjoy fricking with fans that are trying to jump through hoops explaining why what was done was "fair". It wasn't.

Guess what? 12 teams will be a bigger joke. Just wait until the narratives change again for a 3-4 loss Bama being ranked 12th over teams whose only loss during the season will come against a conference champion.

No, they picked two teams they thought deserved it, one team they think is the best, and a fourth team they HAD to put in in order to justify putting the third team in.

Correct.

Their fans believed they “deserved” a spot in 2022 as well. Even though they were 10-2 and didn’t even win the SEC West.

This is true, but Texas is actually a good team. I think they’re better than Washington too, and would give anyone they match up with a good game.

I don’t disagree, but UT was only included to justify Bama being in.
