Since Tom Brady takes pay cuts, and the only star on the Patriots besides brady is gronk. Where the frick is all the money going? I can see the pats pursuing Earl Thomas or maybe even Lev Bell

I doubt the Steelers are trading with them.

Thomas might be worthwhile, but they might not need more help after they get their injured guys going.

This ain't basketball and that would still mean the Steelers are facilitating a trade to move Bell to the Pats.

None of those sound anything close to a (ndamakong suh, Donald,Gurley,Aqib Talib,Brandin Cooks, Marcus Peters) roster

Thomas is a similar style safety to McCourty. Doesn’t really make sense to give up assests for a redundancy.

If they wanted to make a difference they need to find fast linebackers who can cover. Theirs talent in the Dline and secondary when healthy, but that LB core has to be one of the slowest in the league

They’re not trading for a RB.

They have much more star power than you think. They’ll be fine. People are overreacting

That’s because the Pats don’t pay that kind of coin out often.

But when they signed Gilmore it was the highest paid contract for a corner on annual salary. And Mason was paid top 5 guard money, McCourty was paid pretty well for safety who have a notoriously stiff market, and Hightower signed a big deal in FA two years ago for about 10/per

Get what you can for Brady and promote Etling from the practice squad.

Why are we trying to help the Patriots win? They don't need any help doing that.

They just drafted Sony Michel with their 1st round pick and have raved about him, they aren't trading for an RB.

Burkhead is hurt now, and michel looked incredibly average. The patriots also love throwing to the backs and L bell is the 2nd best receiving back in the league if not the best

The Patriots pay a lot of above average players above average money, they don't really invest in true stars as a general rule. They have pretty good money tied up with Cannon, Mason, Burkhead, Dwayne Allen, and Clayborne. They have a lot of money invested in McCourty, Hightower, and Gilmore.

The way they play McCourty, he's really not going to show up on the Stat sheet, and Hightower has been abysmal to start the season.

The issue the Patriots have is Bill Belichick has whiffed hard on the past 4 or so drafts, and that cheap influx of talent is just not there, so he's been slapping moderately priced bandaids on situations. They have also had horrible luck with injuries/illnesses of said draft picks. It doesn't help that Belichick refuses to grab a coverage linebacker, preferring big run stoppers that, while still having a place in the NFL, are not as valuable as they used to be. It's ironic, because the Patriots basically won two Super Bowls by using pass catching RBs to set up mismatches with linebackers.

In short, the draft is a crapshoot, but Belichick's lack of success in it has cost this team a lot.
