160 mile race between the two cities, wet AF for the first time in a while. Looks like those tires would need better grip, but I guess not. What a cool spectacle.

colbrelli has been on fire ( and maybe other things) this year

Three riders ending together on the concrete was epic.
The "Hell of the North" is by far the best monument. There was a women's race for the first time ever this year and it was excellent to.
The muddy soaked cobble sections were brutal and the 2021 Paris-Roubaix is arguably the best classic I have ever seen.
Colbrelli is the first Italian to win. Moscon would have won if not for the puncture and Van der Poel put in too much effort with little help pulling him in. I have already watched it twice and likely will watch is again.

Hell of an event. Would be cool for stuff like this to get a little more coverage in the US.

What happened to Van Aert? I thought he was in form and the favorite? Did the cobbles and mud get him? Did he just miss the break and say forget it?

Van Aert missed the break when VanderPoel made a move and ended up in the chase group that never made a run at the leaders. The cobble sections are so narrow if you aren't up front when an attack goes, you get stuck behind.

Van Aert also got stuck behind a crash and had to clip out and save himself from falling. In that short time you are going to lose 10-20 seconds.
Anyone who has the time should watch this, 50 minutes but the craziest race in a long time.
Wonder if they had a count on the amount of crashes(from tv coverage obviously there were numerous off camera)

Yeah, once he got on that new bike it was like the mud turned into ice for him. He did a great job keeping it upright for as long as he did and finishing 4th.
It's been a long time between muddy PRs. Boonen was on Postal for the last one.

I had a training partner that did all of these monuments in the jr ranks. Same races, just shorter. He said he pissed blood for 3 days after racing 120 miles of this course. Said he would never attempt it again even though he finished top 10 behind the likes Johann Museew.

Oh man, 20 years of racing produces a lot of stories. I've toed the line with many of the best the US had to offer but never made it over to Europe. My buddy asked me to go over with him to race Kermesse(long course criterium) in Belgium. I kick myself for never doing it. He seemed to think I could hang in there but I didn't have that much confidence in my abilities.
It is a different level there. Those guys are just cut from a different clothe.

I recorded it on NBCSN and will watch on Peacock during prep period

I'm familiar with kermesse. It's why Belgians are the best cyclists in the world. They do have an American over in Belgian who has been doing really well in kermesse format for awhile now. Guys name is Emaon Lucas
