Update: The #Panthers are open to trading down from the 1st overall pick they just acquired from the #Bears If they have more than one QB prospect they really like, they could trade down to recoup some draft picks, a source told @josephperson
Jesus Christ.

Tepper is a fool.

They have enough cap space to bring in a receiver or two in free agency and they still have their own 2nd rounder this year (Jalin Hyatt?) because they traded the 49ers pick they got in the McCaffrey trade. They won't be amazing by any means, but their WR room will be better than it is now.

The FA WR group is a trash. Juju and Lazard are the top guys on the market. Big step down from Moore.

Without Moore and CMC, there are no weapons in Carolina
This.
I get they have some good RBs got the running game going at the end of the season and that was working for them (from what I remember).
But they now have no WRs. I don’t even know who their TE is.
Maybe go the Atlanta route and just pound the ball?
I guess they are going to try and load up on offensive weapons in the early rounds?

I think they'll make a strong push for someone like DJ Chark and/or trade #39 and #93 for someone like Tee Higgins. Yes, I know Cincinnati said they wouldn't trade him, but I think they have to consider it.
Might also be able to get someone like Courtland Sutton or Michael Pittman.

He is the key. Everyone is analyzing the front office, coaching staff, their draft board, etc.
The owner is new to the league, out of his element, and desperate to make a splash. Maybe they’ll luck into an upper tier franchise QB, but these aren’t moves most front offices or owners would make.
Trade up for the #1, then trade back out if one of the QBs slides???

Respectfully, BS they aren’t, lol. Front offices routinely make dumbarse draft decisions. This is a dumb move but honestly it’s not even that dumb compared to some other moves.

great trade for the Bears
Rumor has it Panthers wanted to send over a 2025 First and the Bears insisted on Moore.
Moore makes sense for the Bears to figure out who Fields is NOW (still a bucket of unknowns). Plus, if CJ really is the guy for Carolina, the 2025 1st will be mid-tier at best. But, by including Moore in this trade you might, in addition to getting Moore, move the Carolina 2024 pick a few spots up the board (via the subtraction of Moore).
Best case scenario for the Bears, Carolina struggles next year with a new head coach, rookie QB, and little to no weapons and ends up with a top-10 2024 pick they hand right back to the Bears.
If Fields really isn't the guy for the Bears, they may know better after this season, and also be sitting with their own high draft pick in 2024 (and maybe use those two first round assets to take another swing at quarterback).
If Fields + a few more weapons + a better offensive line really shows up, then the two 2024 First rounders can be used to plug holes for the next leap into contention.

DJ Moore’s contact makes this even more of a heist for the Bears. After the panthers paid a signing bonus, the Bears owe 52M over 3 years. 20M this year and then 16 and 16 in 24&25.
To put that in perspective, watch Allen Lazard and Jacobi Meyers both make between 16-20M next week when FA kicks off. DJ Moors is twice the player as either of those guys.

You wanna pay Moore 3/60? Because that's what they obviously didn't want to do
Moore put up very good and consistent numbers his first 3 years despite having absolutely abhorrent qb play. The dude is an absolute baller and would be talked about as a top 5 guy or so with a decent qb IMO.
Only now he gets Justin fields who may end up being the worst passer he’s ever had when it’s all said and done

The #Cardinals pick at No. 3 overall just became gold. QBs likely go 1-2 now. The Colts at No. 4 is the next closest QB landing spot. Arizona’s in a great spot.
This is what makes the nfl draft so spectacular
There are so many twists and turns.
I’m shocked CHI traded the #1 pick before draft night

Chicago got a dream offer. Panthers are idiotic on how much they gave up.
Draft trades are consistently so lop sided.

All of y’all saying take Stroud over Bryce have no idea how good Bryce Young really is. Carolina has no intention on drafting anybody but Young with the 1st pick and Bryce is worth it
Hate to agree with a Bama fan but he’s right. Bryce is clearly the pick.
Bill O’Brien did him no favors with his offense and Bryce made plays over and over again
I saw Stroud look average plenty of times. Can’t say that about Bryce. He was the best player on the field whenever he played
