Forget Bama. UGA and Auburn would likely beat USC by a couple TDs.

Those two teams on the field last night were not in the same class as Alabama, Clemson, Oklahoma, Auburn, etc.

Southern Cal was very unimpressive.

Only conference champions should make the playoffs. This eye test bullshite is just that, bullshite. Every fricking person has a bias of some sort so there is no way anyone sees the whole picture clearly. Make it a champions tournament and move on.

Didn't the two just play last season? I specifically remember USC coming out the tunnel hyped up, having players hold them back like dogs...

Yeah...that worked.

Alabama beat the ever living shite out of them to the tune of 58-3 or something similar. It was "grown man football". Alabama just slapped them around like a 2 cent whore. Hell, we took them into 2 OT and should have beaten them with a true freshman getting his start.

I'm not interested in seeing that again.

USC does not deserve a bid after that blowout loss to the hands of ND.

If anything you would have to consider ND before USC. And they are a longshot after their loss to Miami.

What does last year have to do with this year? Darnold was not playing. Bama has different guys also

Not saying Bama would lose but that’s a dumb statement you made using last year.

That Bama team had an all time great defense. This team now is a shell of that team. Bama deserves to be over SC but this example you gave is dumb.

USC, albeit a conference champion, lost 30-27 to Washington State and 49-14 to Notre Dame. Really good teams don't lose 49-14 to Notre Dame (or 55-24 to Iowa).

I'm a proponent of giving conference champions some leverage in the selection process; however, USC shouldn't get the nod over a one loss (to a top 4 Auburn) Alabama.

Yep. USC should've scheduled Mercer instead of Notre Dame, and played one less conference game so the we could've played Fresno state instead of Wazzu. Then we could be undefeated and get into the playoffs.

There's clearly no benefit to having a tough schedule. Just schedule like Wisky or UW or Bama this year and you're golden.

USC does not deserve to make the playoffs. But SC's injury list for that game was a mile long, game was at ND, ND was coming off a bye while USC did not have a bye during the season (never heard of that before), and ND had no classes that week either, so they were healthy, had two weeks to prepare, without having to go to school. That is a lot to overcome.

USC also beat a 6-6 Texas team by 3, a 5-7 California team by 10, a 6-6 Utah team by 1, and a 6-6 UCLA team by 5.

Doesn't help SC that Wazzu got buttfricked in each of their 3 losses.

The point is USC has struggled numerous times this year to beat shitty teams.

The only way we should be talking about either team is if TCU beats Oklahoma.

Agreed, but I'd add that UCF should have to lose too. UCF wins today, I say put them in. They'd have won every game, won their conference, and if they don't get into the playoffs after all that, then what the hell is point of having these non-P5 conferences in the same division as P5? In the immortal words of Beerfest, "Let them drink!"
