It’s still early but did Bengals make the right choice in the draft by choosing Chase over Sewell? Jamar is off to hot start but Burrow still taking a lot of hits. I think they did as Sewell seems to be off to a slower start but maybe lineman take longer to get up to NFL speed vs skill position players. Thoughts?

I don’t mind going Chase, but long term they would have been better if they traded down and got an extra first round pick and got an OL.

Bengals need interior OL, not OTs. They drafted one and seem to have drafted poorly.

Drafting Sewell that early to play OG would be a waste of resources.

Sewell would be a RT for them IF he played OT, and he was utterly terrible trying this week 1.

Why a team like Cincy didn't pick Trey Smith before he lasted six rounds is beyond me.

Dude will have an all-pro career.

They had Higgins and Boyd already. With offenses being so wide open, there are tons of good WR prospects coming out every year. I think it was undoubtedly the wrong decision.

There was a lot of risk with Smith due to his medical issues, otherwise he wouldn't have lasted until the 6th round. Honestly, he'd have probably been a 1st round pick without his medical issues. The Bengals still picked an OT in the 2nd round, so it's not like they just didn't draft any OL.

Everything about this is false. He’s been a LT since the regular season began and did a good job blocking Nick Bosa week 1.

Slater is looking like the offensive lineman of this draft but it's only been two games.

The tackle they took in the 2nd round isn’t even playing

Not saying you are wrong, but Micah Parsons played DE for Dallas for the first time since high school and dominated Slater Sunday when he went against him.

Are we going to have to sit through LSU fans over analyzing the Bengals roster management for Burrows entire career?

I watched him a little bit vs. the Packers and he did well. The only negative I remember was a penalty and the pressure he gave up that lead to the Goff INT. Even then, Goff escaped the pressure and threw a stupid pass

Saw a highlight package of him blocking Bosa on YouTube.

I thought it was a good debut for Sewell

Its a dumb decision, period.

Being revisionist and saying down the road it was good or bad based on how they panned out is a terrible way to evaluate drafts. What was the team thinking at the time is all that really matters. Every NFL team saw Sewell as a stud OT, and the Bengals could have gotten him at a position of need and didn't for a position where you can get a stud later on in drafts.

Example: I'm not punishing teams for not picking Mahomes before KC did because no one in the league saw his career being what it has been, even the Chiefs or they would have traded up even higher to make sure they got him.

No, he's not. He's doing very well since moving to the left side

My problem isn’t Chase over Sewell, it’s when we took Carman in the 2nd, an OT and decided he’d be fine at guard. Everyone besides the people who drafted him knew he’d struggle.

FWIW, D’Ante Smith from ECU who we drafted in the 4th is going to be pretty solid IMO.

Sewell has a 71 grade on PFF through 2 weeks which is solid for a rookie tackle. His grade is over 10 points higher than both Bengals tackles.

You're not wrong, Parsons had him on skates, but Slater dominated Chase Young the week before.

Could just be that they're both great rookies. I liked Slater the best of the OT coming out of the draft too and still feel good about him over Sewell.

He got all his pressures and sacks from lining up over the RT. Not Slater at LT.
