Especially once you read the texts this guy sent this woman. Dude is a psychopath who was employed by the university as recently as two or three weeks ago.

Ask any HC who has been fired/removed due to an assistant coach cheating in the NCAA in multiple sports whether they're responsible for their assistant coach's behavior no matter how repugnant.

He's the one that brings those guys in to work for him. At somewhere like OSU, there's a ton of guys who would gladly take that job without the domestic violence baggage. If Meyer was aware of what his assistant was doing, then yes it's his responsibility as his employer to let him go.

What? I absolutely disagree with this statement. His coaching staff, his responsibility. The victim worked for the school, and he failed to report. Boom, Title IX. And if it is true, he deserves his punishment.

i kinda agree. for all we know, the guys wife didn't want anyone to tell. hard to tell about a women who's crazy enough to stay with someone who beats her.

is it sketch? hell yes it is, but i doubt urbs didn't tell anyone. lying to the media ,of all things, isn't a crime.

if he gets fired over this i won't exactly feel sorry for him.

To be clear, the abuser worked for the school, not the victim. It's still a Title IX issue though.

Where does his responsibility as it relates to an assistant coaches marriage end?

His responsibility is incredibly clear. He reports it to the AD within 5 business days. That's that.

She's the one who helped break this story.

Domestic violence, not reported to police, how in the hell is urban supposed to know if it’s true or not? Is he supposed to fire an asst coach for allegations? What if the wife had an axe to grind with the husband? Just take her word for it and fire the guy? Should urban call the police for her and risk a defamation case brought by the asst coach?

He knew this couple well.

All Urban had to do is call the cops or his chain of command to notify the cops if he had info his assistant was involved in DV. If he did that, there is no issue.

This isn't a very high bar for his behavior. Yes, he's less culpable than the actual abuser. That isn't the standard for job retention.

He doesn't have to be the police, he just has to notify them. That isn't exactly a super high bar to clear. If he couldn't even do that (and I don't know enough on that end) he brought it on himself.

Like I posted in the other thread, it is very much the norm that public employees have to report allegations of crimes or risk termination. If Urban didn't know that, he's stupid.

Just call the police and let them sort it out. The solution is not difficult.

Finally... I have heard that the abuse goes back to 2009 while at FLA... He grabbed her by her shirt and threw her against the wall while pregnant.......

I could kind of see your point until you hit this line

quote:

HC is paid to win championships and games. HC not repaondsible for asst coaches behavior no matter how repugnan

That is absolutely false. He is 100% responsible for his assistants. Every HC will agree with that statement

Maybe she did, maybe she didn't, but his responsibility was very clear assuming his wife told him about it.

Like I said in another thread, the only hope Urban has is that he had no clue about it in 2015, which is very difficult to believe.

He is the head man who potentially covered up or did not report a felony. Not once but twice in two different states.

Urban could’ve told the AD when he found out and said no comment to the media and he’d be in the clear right now.
