But it is pretty clear what it changes. The ball is pumped to the side of kobes head towards a cutting player, not at his face

Idk what is going on here, nor do I recall this incident or subsequent discussions, but based on the HD video above, that ball plants into Kobe's face if it's released at the worst/best possible moment.

Yes Kobe is sliding to the left but at a much slower pace than Barnes pump fake.
