the best part of the whole incident is that the Boise State fan who was screaming at him as he was walking by hid behind one of his buddies when Blount started to come after him...

I can't be the only one who saw that and thought, "Hmmm...I wonder if the reaction would've been different if he'd charged the student section in Death Valley?"

One game isn't going to ruin they're recruiting class.
i think it will depend on their response. if they dont show the kid the door, i think it will give alot of possible recruits parents the wrong idea, and they will be in the ears of the kids.
it wont ruin the class, but it could hurt it no doubt

You can't honestly think they're going to lose recruits over one guy getting into a fight. FSU and Fla used to get into fight all the time before games, never affeted recruiting one bit.
I think these are different situations. That is a bitter rivalry - this is a school getting embarrassed, then one of its players burning that defeat into everyone's minds for the rest of the year. So you can think "out of control" and "poor sports" in addition to "loser".I think it would be hard for that not to be the defining moment of their season in the mind of the public at large.

HAd he charged student section at Tiger Stadium he would have had 10-15 charge him back probably.

what do you mean? if i was dumb enough to start yelling and taunting a player who just punched another player, no telling what the dude might do if he got a hold to me...
i bet the reaction would have been similar
i bet the reaction would have been similar

yea, but he definitely didnt want anyone to charge him
he kinda looked like carmelo anthony vs. the knicks a few years back, though not that pussified
Wha???
I thought he looked exactly the opposite of Carmelo and I think he was WISHING someone would charge him at that point.
Dude done lost his mind and was out to knock a few heads off.

Had a boise state player charged him I bet his helmet would have come off and he would have been swinging it.

This is a very important point.

Tenn. has a recruit who helped rape his cousin. USC used to have Frostee Rucker who was accused of multiple rapes, hell LSU had Cecil back in the day. None of those team had any ill effect in recruiting, one punch from one guy won't affect Oregon.

The last two words the punching bag said was arse whooping.
To lose your head and punch a guy AFTER the game regardless of what someone said to you certainly calls for some heavy disciplinary action. You lose your head wrong, but have you seen all of what happened AFTER Blount should have known he f'ed up in a big way. He keeps going ballistic and the cops had to literally carry him off the field as he kept fighting with the cops.
That leaves no doubt he should be kicked off the team and expelled from school.

exactly. It would be different if Oregon was recruiting kids from Oregon who would see them all the time, but around the country, this is going to be what people, especially parents, are going to be thinking about
Posted on 9/4/09 at 2:22 am to shel311
i agree, shel...the dude lost his mind, and i wouldn't have been stupid enough to try to handle him...

recruiting thugs and having a guy punch someone on national TV are not similar in any way

if Oregon doesnt gets lots better between now and the end of the season, i cant imagine how many times they are going to play that clip, and say "this is when the wheels fell off for the program"

*****Directed at Tiger4, who asked for a presser link******
Nope, but here's a link to John Canzano's latest article (he's probably the premier writer/blogger on all things Oregon):
Blount must go...

i agree
and honestly, let's get real here, in some cases I bet it helps...no offense to anyone out there, but someone with that kind of "swagger" (i parenthesize b/c that's not the right word) might be drawn into Oregon b/c of it...
this is of course omitting the fact that parents have a heavy say so in where their kid will go and play at
