this shite is so accepted in college basketball it's not even a story

There's one of the reasons a lot of people don't care about college basketball as much as they used to. I don't think the NCAA can afford to let that happen to football.

Maybe I'm wrong, but it's their bigger money maker and I can see them jeopardizing that.

i remember once upon a time, I was arguing with LSUintheNW and he claimed that Oregon ran a clean program, in spite of the fact that Masolli was stealing laptops and Lamichael James beating the shite out of his girlfriend.

So that makes this pretty

I always had this unusual feeling about Oregon when they go cross country to get quality players.

Yeah he got his panties in a twist when I posted alternate Oregon uniforms.

not true. hard to get away with "cheating" anymore. even minor offenses are reported and few ever slip under the rug.

Players getting in trouble on their own accord isn't a programs fault. You should know that. OSU has a hell of a lot more people that have been in trouble. We still haven't seen that they have done anything wrong really.

Yeah....you got me

Atari.....I believe you're full of shite....let me check.....yep, you are.

the shite that gets reported, typically, is the shite where somebody fricked up and the information got out

i love it. you make a claim, without evidence and then expect me to disprove your point?

there are so many NCAA interviews conducted with players, coaches, recruits, athletic departments, boosters, etc... that "cheating" is not as common as one may believe especially at top-tiered schools.

There's a large difference between "hey we'd like to buy your videos of recruit _____" and "hey we know you're in good with recruit _______, here's some cash to steer him towards us"

there is a large difference... but it gets pretty hard to tell from teh outside

If the NCAA wanted to make a good first attempt at cleaning things up they would try and get rid of all the advisors/mentors/agents... by disqualifying any kid that used them

As it is they have an unenforceable system IMO... and with professionals placing kids you end up with people in the know hooking up with bag men, boosters or whatever else they run across

paying a recruiting service is one thing, but 20K to a "recruiting service"?

Do you know what a normal amount is that is paid for recruiting services?

SIAP...
The NCAA didn't waste any time. They will be in Eugene on Friday to investigate already. LINK

quote:

In the wake of the Yahoo and ESPN reports, a source familiar with the NCAA’s examination of possible recruiting impropriety involving the Oregon football program told me late Thursday that NCAA investigators will be in Eugene on Friday to initiate a more direct inspection of the recruiting tactics of school’s football program. I’m told the NCAA’s imminent presence in Eugene was in response to revelations in the Yahoo and ESPN reports published Thursday. Before the dueling, breaking news broke Thursday, the NCAA had no plans to be in Eugene.

Thanks in part to information detailed in the Yahoo and ESPN reports, I’ve also learned that the NCAA may request Oregon provide evidence of the “recruiting services” rendered by Lyles in particular. According to records obtained from the Harris County (TX) website, Lyles is the sole proprietor of the unincorporated “Complete Scouting Services” - the same business the University of Oregon paid $25,000 for recruiting services.

if the NCAA violates UO, it will be a case where the NCAA literally just makes shite up

UO obviously read the rules, ran it through compliance, and got the green light

they paid these services ON THE BOOKS. they were 100% sure this would be seen as legal, and i've yet to see how paying a recruiting service is against NCAA regulations. nothing says schools can't do this, and nothing says kids can't be "advised" by these street agents. as long as the kid didn't get money (or, more importantly, the NCAA can't prove the street agent paid the kid), what can the NCAA do?

feel me in. how is "everyone" cheating? since you are so sure in your position it should be easy to name...10 schools who do so consistently?

and when you say cheating, i am assuming we are referring to non-secondary recruiting violations going unnoticed by the NCAA. not the weak stuff like saban pulls, but the hard-core-auburn type deals.
