I was referencing basketball being seen as a “hoodrat” sport by some on this board in contrast, for instance, to baseball.

This makes me miss my paw paw. Dude retired from Texaco in his 50's and all he did was fish in the morning and watch Atlanta Braves baseball in his recliner in the afternoon. Rinse Repeat. Any time I hear Skip Caray, I pour out a little sip for my paw paw.

Well, yeah. Even the fan that invaded the field in his lemon colored slacks was just a coked up commercial real estate investor.

Good clean fun.

The pitcher started it and he was the first one to retreat.

The umpire looked like Humpty Dumpty. He didn't last long before he took a tumble.

That is a nothingburger compared to Disco Demolition Night and 10 Cent Beer Night.

He literally died on the field of a heart attack about a decade later.

Was that the same guy?
I remember that.
It must have been the same guy based on the shape.

but when it happens today the players are called thugs and classless. Back then it was manly. kind of a double standard. Heck when Carolina fought Clemson in 05, that was the only comments that were made. "thugs" now mind you that was the day after malice in the palace. Both of those fights were far better than whatever whimpy crap I just watched was. How it can mean the "country had balls" when not a single punch was thrown, when they just ran over to each other like dogs with a fence between them.
