Good website for following the US team:
USA HOCKEY
If Tim Thomas gets hot, the US could ride him to a medal.
What's up with the games being on usa network? Honestly, NBC doesn't think enough of Olympic hockey to put it on network in the middle of the afternoon? Are the soaps that lucrative? Or do we need to see more of that ugly red-headed snowboarding chick and "aerials" whatever the hell that is? Even the USA-Canada game is going to be on MSNBC!
NBC should just get out of the Olympics business altogether, and let a network that knows something about sports handle it.
While they're at it, they should cut the Winter Olympics down to bobsled and hockey and tell everyone else to go home.
By the way, the women's team has a good shot at a medal. They play China today, if you're not a NASCAR fan.

I thought Miller was gonna be the #1?

Miller has had better numbers this year, but Thomas has more experience in international play. He was money in the '08 Worlds before he got hurt. I think they'll alternate in pool play and go with the hot hand in the medal round.

I wonder how much Mario paid Bettman to rig the lottery for Crosby?
I mean Pittsburgh was leaving, the people didnt care, and Mario was going bankrupt.
but pens fans swear they are die hard and not front runners, when its them who stopped going to games and almost got the team moved to KC. I called my friend out on this last night, no one gave a frick before super mario and no one gave a frick after him until Sid came along

Yep, and then you have people that don't follow hockey act like Pens fans are so amazing, just because they watch a little of the playoffs.

Re: Thomas, he does have a good track record, but he's struggled this year. The Bruins are reportedly shopping him. Between Miller and Thomas though, I think they'll be fine. I'm just not sure if they have the firepower to compete with the upper tier teams. They're going to need Miller or Thomas to get hot. The good news is that both are more than capable of doing so. I do expect Miller to be the #1 though; both initially and by the end of the tournament.

This.Boston wants to dump Timmy soon for Raask.I'm not sure his demeanor is all there right now.

I wish we had someone different too, and maybe we could get Jim Hughson for the games. I feel like playing one of my EA Sports games just to listen to his commentary.

just heard on NHL network that the USA vs Canada game on sunday during prime time will not be on regular nbc and they will have ice dancing on instead and the hockey game will be like on msnbc

As a fan of minor Olympic sports, let me say that is ALWAYS better for fans of a sport if it is NOT on NBC. Their coverage will be awful, while their "we don't care about this crappy sport" coverage is low on bullshite and features, so is often quite good. Just the game and two knowledgable announcers.
I am praying to God not a single hockey game is on NBC. Because I actually want to watch them.

I really don't see anyone beating this Russian team. They are absolutely stacked. Datsyuk feeding Ovechkin?

Game On! Don't take the Swiss lightly--they're not that bad. Hiller is still an NHL-quality goalie, even if he is near the bottom of the league.
We REALLY need these points to finish in the top four and get the bye.
P.S. Great goal by Jocelyne Lamoureux Sunday.

Yes, the people on NBC are not good and too many talking heads in their broadcast. hockey and other sports will be better on the other channels.
