Call me a conspiracy theorist but I’m going out on a limb and saying the Miss in Ole Miss refers to Mississippi

The phrase "Ole Miss" was used by servants of colour spanning plantations from Texas to Maryland.
The reason why University of Mississippi is the school that adopted "Ole Miss" in the 1890's (and not, say... Louisiana State, or Alabama) was clearly because it is a clever play on the first syllable of "Mississippi".

This thread makes no sense.
Just like how Notre Dame pronounces the name of their school.

Notre Dame. (Mary, Mother of God)
—— Our Lady of Guadeloupe
—— Our Lady of Lourdes
Ole Miss. (Mother of the home)
Alma Mater.
… SirWinston, you claimed not to know what Notre Dame meant. Did you know “mater” means “mother”?

He quickly dipped out after I proved the call came from inside the house. And it was in the 90s unlike his claim of it being "woke liberals" in the recent past.

If we are gonna use history in this example you would then know that Irish Catholics were heavily discriminated by the groups such as the kkk and even were portrayed in the media as monkeys when they migrated here
