Damn, I expected more from a home game!
Lakers got what their ref conference wanted, more calls. Free Throw attempts favored Lakers 25 to 10. And OKC had 22 fouls to 16 for Lakers. There should be no whining about refs but I know thats not likely. Was at family and not able to read thread I’m sure all the posters were complaining about Reaves and his constant crying. One play he didn’t even get back on D he was bitching. Leaned it from Luka and LBJ is my guess.
Maybe they should do their post game ref conference by Zoom this time?
Looks like Bronny was one of their top performers he shot 100% from the field.
AJay Mitchell, with 24 points, 10 assists, 4 rebounds, 3 steals and 0 turnovers. He hasn’t played 100 games yet was injured most of last year as rookie. OKC is 21-1 with Ajay as starter. If a redraft was done he’d go 3rd.
In a game with soon to be 2 time MVP SGA, 4 time MVP LeBron James, All Star Chet Holmgren and Austin Reaves..
..the best player on the court tonight has been last year’s #38 overall pick from Belgian Waffle University.
Lakers are just a 41 year old player and a bunch of wanna be’s. The oldster outplayed his whole team.
Mon night game is late maybe they can steal one game.
FYI, everyone at my family gathering was bitching about Doris and wondered how she is getting such big playoff games. I have yet to find a fan of any team who likes her.
Enjoy your night

Mitchell was a 2 way player then got 2 year contract. OKC got him to decline his 2 yr last summer so they could pay him more. But damn Presti is a genius. He’s a steal now!

One reason OKC works is SGA does not act like a superstar with his team. He always compliments them too.
And the players all buy in and have fun. I think they know this is a rare chance in NBA to win some hardware and will someday look back and be glad they were all part of it.
A good example:
Nick Gallo
@NickAGallo
Mark Daigneault with a story about OKC's teamwork and camaraderie:
In Game 2, Isaiah Joe was giving Daigneault play-call recommendations to spring Jared McCain free while McCain was playing in the minutes Joe typically plays.
Tonight, the roles reversed and Joe played more.

OKC simply has too many good players. Announcers made a point that last year in the Finals that Wiggins had a couple games where scored 18 points. This season he’s at the very end of the bench. Doesn’t even play.
Dort, Caruso, Wallace…with these 3 your perimeter defehse is gonna be outstanding.
Joe/McCain…instant offense shooters.
SGA- MVP
Mitchell = playing great
Chet/Hartenstein..dominating the middle
Presti changed the mindset of needing superstars to win. His depth is what wins. No NBA team has ever went 10 deep

OKCs garbage time lineup wins 30+ as a starting 5 in the East

Presti started the rebuild the year KD left and Russ extended. Russ MVP year was key to everything we see now. There have been over 59 moves Presti made but Russ was the key. Allowed Presti to entice other players which he then turned into draft picks and/or other players to do the same. Of course the big move was PG and Clippers but there were so many moves prior to and since.
One thing he’s dine is keep the team young which allows smaller contracts. Then trade them as they get good for more picks to stay just young enough. He’ll still have to navigate money caps and keep them good but has a lot of picks and players to do so.
If one goes back and looks at all his moves its amazing what he’s done. And it was the only way he was going to survive and make a contender. Had he made one big wrong move it fails and thats the amazing part. Now he has so many bench players who contribute and it also gives him options for trades. One thing he does though is make sure a player wants to go to team x before he does it.
When you look back - losing a top 3 player with no return value (KD) - would kill most teams. Its still amazing to me how he managed to rebuild. But it took time and crafty moves.

In a time where you don’t have to run any offensive sets and you just run 5 out.
A bunch of random guys that can shoot can now continue to compete nba titles…
This is why you can’t compare eras.. legit you can do everything right in a possession and take away everything, not secure the offensive rebound, ball luckily trickle out to the 4th guard off the bench and he bang home a 3… it’s the nba we live in now.
This was not happening in the 80s, 90s, 00s, 10s…
The shooting and also the green light these guys have is what makes teams that don’t have superstars able to compete.

The NBA world will melt down when Oklahoma City gets a Top 4 pick. Imagine Dybantsa, Boozer or Wilson on this team?
Posted on 5/10/26 at 6:27 am to okietiger
It’s almost like the Lakers are missing the best offensive player in the world, and are also playing the best team in the NBA. Maybe they just suck like you are implying and you guys shouldn’t ever even be behind.

If the lakers had the amount of shooting that okc has they would be fine,
Their bench shooting includes:
- Luke Kennard

I’m heavily implying that you have a lot of people that think the Thunder’s only reason for being up 2-0 was flopping 50x a game to get to the FT line.
Lakers maintain a FT advantage of 10 for the series.

People don’t like watching OKC. They blame it on something, usually this topic. But the real thing is people just don’t enjoy them. Mostly cause they are really good. They don’t have any marketable players and they are the best team so you don’t even get bandwagoners like Curry brought in.
People have mistaken me for saying OKC is hard to watch. I only think SGA is tough to watch. OKC plays great basketball and they would likely win going away without any extra theatrics.

I like what Daignault did with the refs last night, he told our guys not to complain about no-calls and just keep playing. I remember Chet getting massacred on a made layup and he got up and ran back on defense. Not a word to the refs and no throwing up his hands.
Contrast that with LA’s approach of complaining after every single missed basket and actively trying to get fouled every possession, especially Reaves. He was awful, throwing his hands up and whining even when he didn’t get touched at all.
The vibe definitely changed last night, LA was still focused on making the refs a big part of the game but OKC did the opposite. They played good basketball and acted like the refs weren’t there.
Here’s a perfect example, Reaves doesn’t get touched, complains to the refs, LA gives up a fast break dunk.

What I have seen the last couple years makes me think the refs do a terrible job calling OKC games.

I don't think you’re making any sort of point that you think you are.
Nobody thinks Reaves deserves free throws on that play. I’ve called him out all series.
