It seems like "big name" favorites hit at an insane clip last year. I also play in a season long pick contest with 200+ people where you have to pick 10 games per week. Last year the leader at the end of October hadn't picked a single dog all year, and second place had only picked 3 or 4. Meanwhile I was floundering in like 90th.

I typically play more faves early in the
season. I usually only fade the public if they are siding with a dog.

We have a pool with 10 guys you pick any 6 college and any 5 nfl each week, 7 guys finished 20 or more games over .500 last year. Only one guy has a winning record going into Week 3 this season.

Exactly. People talking outta their arse. Since the Cowboys/Giants 2nd half over play last week he's 9-3 in all sports. 4-0 in NFL to start the year.

Locked in the under for tomorrow. Lots of offensive fire power missing. Saw SMS play it, and took a look. Liked it.

Bulls' reserve tailback Marcus Shaw missed the Nevada game with an ankle sprain and his status remains questionable. Yet, the most crushing injury of the young season was last week's loss of Sterling Griffin. The oft-injured wide receiver was red-shirted for 2010, before becoming Daniels' top resource in 2011. Griffin injured his knee during the 1st half against Nevada and will be sidelined for the rest of the year. Meanwhile, the running efforts of Rutgers may be hampered, since they will play without senior guard Andre Civil, who was hurt in the win over Howard. Center Betim Bujari and running back Savon Huggins are game-time decisions.

it was last year at the beginning of the season in which I got crushed, the public started losing towards the end (with the exception of betting against LSU and Bama)

The most picked sides from the Covers site (mostly people who play in contests on wagerline.com, which was bought by Covers.)
You can find percentages from Vegas a few places, but places like Sports Insights charge now to find the exact number of wagers placed on each side, I've been following these numbers for years, here are your best links.

ScoresandOdds - Vegas Odds

Vegas Insider

Sports Insights - Free Betting Trends

The numbers I used in my post.

I'm really confused why everyone is betting Okie St., they play zero defense and ULL can really score some points

Yeah, I was just throwing a small jab because you got crushed in our pickem contest. I know you made a comeback towards the end of the year and bowl season.

if anything I was going to take ULL on that game. It'll be a close shoot out IMO

I agree.

But its because its "Flashy" Oklahoma State against a lowly directional school in the minds of most bettors.

ULL really put it to Troy, at Troy, last week, I was impressed. I'm either taking the points or wont bet it at all.

I track on VegasInsider.

I just didn't know if you were posting stats from Vegas or Covers players. You answered my question.

I've been leaning ULL and I'm still kicking myself for not taking Arizona last week. I've talked against Ok St in the week 2 thread and this one, but have yet to lock in against them.
