You don't know shite Cosmo. The only time he doesn't work hard at his game is between Thanksgiving and Christmas. How do I know this, you might ask, is that we are good friends and I travel with him 6-8 times a year. He's been hurt. Had a couple of procedures on his left shoulder and some other lower GI issues.

There's only 2 players on the tour that I have seen other players stop and watch practice. Tiger Woods and Boo Weekley.

Day 2 bump...

McIlroy just hit it in the water twice on 16, made triple, and is +6 through 7 holes. Currently T137. Let the equipment change second guessing continue.

I'll never understand why those guys will change equipment like that at this point in their careers. I realize that Nike can pay them $$$$, but these guys make their legacy based off of their golf game so why would they let a few dollars force them to make a drastic change? You will still make millions of dollars off of endorsements just by WINNING!

I've got to give Tiger Woods credit for this, he is one of the very few people that has ever been able to not crumble on the huge spotlight of equipment changes and huge expectations.

It's not like there are major differences in the equipment between companies. Besides a guy like Rory can get anything made to how he wants it.

McIlroy misses cuts, he can also win a US Open by 10 shots.

It's kind of how he is - if he's on he's unstoppable, but he has a tendency to crash and burn.

The greatest aspect of Tiger was his consistency - he didn't miss many cuts. Rory is a different type of player.

Just like anything else in this game, it takes time and nothing else go make a change! Swing, club, caddie; they all take time! Nobody wants to give Rory credit for getting himself into this possition, only chastise him for not playing as well with the Nike clubs as he was Titleist!!

I think people forget he played terribly in the middle of last season with Titleist clubs.

It's not the clubs, it's his swing

I know, but you shouldn't go from being the World's #1 to a player that can't make a cut in 3 straight events (last week he wasn't cut, but he shot 75 and got beat in rd 1).

Rory seems to take a while to adjust to new pressure. Last year, as soon as he hit #1, he went into a funk for the summer. He finally snapped out of it for the last major of the year. This year, Nike makes him the highest paid golfer in the world, and he is struggling with those expectations.

quitter

I wonder if this will get as much backlash as Tiger did when he withdrew from The Players two years ago.

Probably not, as good as Rory is, he's not nearly as polarizing as Tiger. There are a lot of people that hope Tiger fails, I cant imagine there are many that feel the same as Rory.

It will probably be attributed to his club change even though he said himself his swing was off and wasn't confident hitting certain shots

Rory has cited Tigerasms. When you know you cant make the cut, you quit and go hang with women.
